As we get ready to welcome the 10th Anniversary Millinocket Marathon & Half — with a record number of runners registered — we want to share some important information with our community ahead of race weekend.

General Information:
• Expect a large increase in visitors, vehicle traffic, and pedestrian activity beginning Friday, December 5th through Sunday, December 7th. Please drive with patience and caution.
• There will be a noticeable police presence on Friday and Saturday. There is nothing to be alarmed about. On race day, additional Fire & EMS vehicles will also be in the area to support event operations.
• A Public Safety Command Post will be operating on Saturday, staffed by members of the Penobscot Regional Communications Center Field Comm Unit, Penobscot County Emergency Management Agency, East Millinocket Police Department, and Millinocket Fire Department.
• Police & Fire personnel will be managing traffic at major race intersections. Please use caution and follow their directions for everyone’s safety.
• Millinocket Fire Department and East Millinocket Volunteer Fire Department will also be providing additional EMS resources dedicated to the event.

Road Closures for Saturday, December 6th:
Road closures will be marked with cones, barricades, and/or public safety personnel.
• Penobscot Ave & All Intersections – Between Central St & Katahdin Ave (6am–6pm). Unauthorized vehicles parked in this area after closure may be towed.
• Veterans Memorial Park Bandstand Parking Lot is closed Friday December 5th - Saturday December 6th.
• Poplar St – Between Penobscot Ave & Katahdin Ave (6am–6pm). Unauthorized vehicles may be towed.
• Poplar St – Between Katahdin Ave & Golden Rd & all intersections (Closed just prior to race start / reopened after all runners pass)
• Birch St – Between Penobscot Ave & Aroostook Ave (6am–11am)

Although there is a large amount of resources dedicated to the Marathon, emergency crews are still available to respond to calls for service.

Lastly, if urgent public safety updates are needed during the event, we will use this page as an official source of information.

We look forward to another great race weekend and thank everyone for helping make this 10th anniversary event a safe and successful one!

There are a lot of really good reasons to attend bib pick-up on Friday and thanks to our friends at Crow Athletics, we now have two more:

1.) The first 500 people to pick up their bibs on Friday will get a commemorative lapel pin!

2.) The first 1,000 people to pick up on Friday will get a commemorative race sticker!

This means, if you’re one of the first 500 people to pick up on Friday you’ll get a lapel pin AND a sticker!

Why are we doing this? We’re trying to entice you with super cool, limited edition swag! As you likely know, we have an enormous record field registered for our historic tenth edition and we really need more people to pick up their bibs on Friday to help alleviate the crush of late check-ins on Saturday morning. If you live or are staying within an hour of Millinocket, please, please, please consider picking up on Friday, 12pm-8pm.

Fine print stuff: Images not to scale. Only one (1) lapel pin and one (1) sticker per registered participant. Supplies are limited and may run-out without notice. Must be picked up in person on Friday with your bib number. (No holds, sorry!)

Happy Friday, friends! If you’ve run with us in Millinocket before, you know the vibe truly lives up to the nickname of the Magic City.✨ While it might seem like race weekend comes together effortlessly, that is (mostly) a fantastic illusion! Behind the curtain, there are actually many volunteer ‘stage hands’ working tirelessly to keep the showing running smoothly. With that said, a couple of quick reminders:

1.) The incredible folks at ZippyReg are volunteering their time and services to keep the registration fee $0. There is no other race registration company in the world that is willing to process this much data for FREE. Simply put, we couldn’t run without ZippyReg. (Special shout-out to our shining star 🌟 registration manager, Rebekah!)

2.) Our race staff is also volunteering our time. Many of us are fresh off the Mount Desert Island Marathon, our big sister race, which we’re still cleaning up from and putting to bed. Without the MDI races, there would be no Millinocket races.

3.) If you haven’t already made a donation, please do so. donate.runmillinocket.com To date, fewer than half of the registered participants (48%) have made a donation. Although there is no formal entry fee, all participants are strongly encouraged to make a donation to support the bare minimum race expenses. These expenses include race timing, course certification, port-a-johns, bus transportation, and insurance. Anything raised above and beyond our essential race expenses will be donated to local charitable groups and organizations.

4.) Be nice.✨ Kindness is free, sprinkle it everywhere!

That’s all for now. Keep believing in the magic and have a fantastic Friday!!
