Grizzly riders! Just as we always did with Oregon 100, the proceeds for Grizzly will also go to a local non-profit group. We’re researching that now, looking for a solid, respected, financially responsible organization. Many of you graciously donated goods to be used for awards to the 2021 Oregon 100 before we had to cancel; we have those and will be using them for Grizzly. Some of you also donated your ride entries back to the ride when we had to cancel Oregon 100 in ’21. Those entry donations and any cash donated stayed with PNER; you might have received a tax receipt.

We’re preparing a great Grizzly ride on April 15 for everyone! Sharke is a three-time Ride Manager of the Year, so you know it will be as well run as before. If you want to volunteer and learn about what we do, or just help out and hang with us, contact Becky Osborne, our volunteer organizer. LuAnn is currently working on getting the Jotform ready and registration will soon be open.

Our vets will be Dr. Shannon Findley, DVM, and Dr. Sabrina Cooper, DVM, the newest associate at Bend Equine. Dr. Cassee will be coming in late the night before from Mexico, and will provide back-up if we need it, or just get to be a ride mom for a change. We’re working out the loops now, and not sure yet if the LD will be 25 or 30, or if it will be a 55 or 50. Mrs. Smallz Food Truck will be there Friday and Saturday. Tell us how we can add to your experience!

Keep an eye on our FB page for updates as we go.

Oregon 100 is on a temporary hiatus while we work out the frustrating details we've been running into. BUT, come to Grizzly Mtn Ride! Sharke and Carlene have taken over Grizzly and plan to continue the long legacy of one of the great Oregon rides.

Our team, including LuAnn De Young and Becky Osborne are working hard to continue the fabulous ride management that Darlene, Max, Shar, Richard and their crew have entrusted to us. Come join us at the first 2023 Oregon ride!

Oregon 100 fans – we regretfully have to cancel the 2022 ride. Honestly, we just might be at the end of a good 47-year run. We had no idea the issues we’d run into trying to move the ride to spring to get away from repeated cancellations due to fire danger. We spent months and months trying to work with 3 federal agencies, with Senator Merkley’s staff’s help, dealing with sage grouse nesting areas, BPA jumping in at the last minute – that’s an ongoing $250 story – a newly discovered golden eagle nest on one of the trails, on and on. We were hanging in there with our trails all mapped out on an app, just waiting until May 1 when we could get on the trails (not even by foot until then). On May 1, permits in hand, I went out there and found nothing but rock. Rock and more rock. Big rock. There are some good areas between rock, but in places I couldn’t even get my quad thru without fear of tipping over. We couldn’t in good conscience put horses on them. They are multi-use trails, but because an old ride had been on these trails, we thought they’d be fine. But with the increasing use of motorcycles these trails are completely chewed up for horses. We wouldn’t have been able to get water or tanks out on the trail, a horse ambulance if needed, or even the vet truck out to the outcheck.

We will continue to look for a new location and if we can find something and have every permit, sanction, approval, accreditation, sanctification, blessing, etc., etc., and anything else we need, all locked up by the end of the year, then and only then, will we announce a new Oregon 100. We appreciate all of you who have stuck with us through our last few years of cancellations and frustration. And we thank everyone who has helped immensely make this ride what it’s been over the years.

Entries are coming in! Donations for awards, too. This ride is a benefit for PNER trails, youth, and education. We're completly dependent on the generosity of donors and volunteers.

We're looking for ride day volunteers- Wally Benson will be our head timer, so if you want to have fun, you want to volunteer! We need pulsers, in and out timers, vet scribes, maybe some gate sitters, depending on where the cows are. This is a great way to learn about endurance from the ground up. Contact me if you want to have a fun time.
