Takamine Karate Dojo Traditional Okinawan Martial Arts Traditionally, in Okinawa, karate was more than a spare time activity left behind at the academy door.

It touched the very essence of the people who studied it, changing the way they thought, the way they felt about themselves, the way they interacted with other people, and in fact, deeply permeated their lives. Much of that has been lost. In modern America, karate has become a sport rather than an art; its influence is the same as any other athletic endeavor. It has lost everything but its physical facets. Traditional instruction is still available!
