Good day on Lake Eufala at the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association qualifier.

Mustang1 with Captain Scott Brown had a rough run down the river. Ms Taylor got good bites but was able to put one in the well. Ms Judy had the best fish of the day jump out of the water, make eye contact with her, then said “Not today!” as it spit out her lure less than 10’ from the boat.

Mustang2 with Captain Mike Floyd had a slow start around the cedars and Lilly pads. In the afternoon, they went to grass and swampy, swapped to Missile Baits Blue Baby DBomb and the fish were happy. Sam had 4-5 good bites, highlighted by almost getting a 3’ gator to the boat. Caden led the team with his 2 fish in the boat.

Points on the board is a big deal for this tournament. Now we wait for the standings to settle and the announcement for the boats invited to the State Classic in May.

Good day on Lewis-Smith Lake with the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association.

There was a “slot limit” for this one, lake rules, not ASABFA, that hurt some, but kids fished hard. This meant any fish betweet 13-15” could bot be kept. Keepers had to be 12-12.9 or 15.1+ inches

Mustang1 with Judy Hanby & Taylor Brown, Captained by Scott Brown, were on fish all day. Judy lead the team with 5 fish, but three in that 14” range. Ms Taylor had a couple of nice ones break free before getting them into the boat. The ladies were for sure no short of fun, though.

Mustang2 with Caden Moxley & Sam Floyd, Captained by Mike Floyd, were on them early but struggled to set hooks. Bites all day. Sam had a 3+ he caught out of an off-shoot pond on Rock Creek, but it came off in the grass between us and the pond. Caden caught the team’s biggest fish @ 1 hour before weigh-in. He all had another one come off at the boat.

So thankful for our 16 sponsors. Talking with captains for other schools and they have to pay their own gas and hotels. Our sponsors make it possible for our captains to be out as little as possible during the season.
