💥USATF Pacific Association Cross Country Season is open for business!✌🏽

Perfect conditions lead to some awesome Tamalpa individual and team finishes at the 25th Annual SCTC XC Challenge!

🏅The 50+ Women placed 3rd with the team of: Verity Breen, Edda Stickle, and Bridie Dillon.

🏅Our 70+ men: Eric Spector, Gene Frenc, and James Morris landed on the podium for 2nd team series scoring!

🏅Mark Turner, Don Porteous, and David Dailor took 6th in the 60+ division with some stiff competition!

🔥With the Summer race season in full swing, and shooting us full throttle into June, we needed to hop into our race-time, time-machine and get back to 05/25/26!

On a long, fast, stretch of paved road in northern Novato, with the dawn of a beautiful Memorial Day morning, 85 eager runners toed the line for the inaugural Tamalpa Marin Memorial Day 5 miler!

👉🏽Leading up to race day, many were mystified by the appearance of 🦫 in event posts and stories. All was finally revealed upon the sighting of the first dam building beaver seen in Marin County since the 1800s! And damn, was that beaver fast!💨

🥇Medals were earned in the Kid's One Mile Challenge! 🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏼‍♂️‍➡️Fast times were thrown down in the main event, and most importantly, 🇺🇸 the memory of our gone, but never forgotten, friends and family service members were honored with an emotional tribute wall.

Major KUDOS to .krone and his dedicated crew, who made this event come together with love, hope, sweat, tears, and a few pieces of bubble-gum.

When the day was done, and all hopes of bringing the beavers back to Marin were offered up to the universe, our intrepid little adventurer, Doji, stumbled upon a miracle. The last picture in this post reveals all!🙌🏽🐾💙

✌🏽Two final Dipsea tune-up workouts! Pick your poison, AM, PM, or BOTH!💪🏽

AM ⏰️ 👉🏽Meet in between Whole Foods and Peet's on Mary St. across from the Montecito Shopping Center in San Rafael at 5:30am. Our route will head towards Dominican and then up the "staircase" on Gold Hill, level of intensity is up to you.

💥🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏼‍♂️‍➡️🔥We'll continue up the single track to the top of Gold Hill, then come down the fire road and down the jungle trail to the rope swing at the end of Mountain View ave, meander through the Dominican campus with a sprint past Phil Oreste's house, looping back to Grand Ave and back to Peet's for your morning coffee.☕️

PM ⏰️ 👉🏽 If mornings aren't your jam, meet up Tuesday evening, 6:30pm, at San Rafael High for a different type of Dipsea tune-up. Those not racing can up the quantity to get a longer workout.

🌞Warm-up:
~1600m (4 laps) easy pace

🦵🏽Pre-workout
Drills

Two laps of jogging the curves and striding the 100m straights.

🔥Main workout:
6 to 8 of the following: 200m easy jog followed by a 400m. First 3-4 at 10k pace, second 3-4 at 5k pace.
This is continuous, you don't stop at all, you just change paces.

🌬ool down:
4 laps in the reverse direction.

💥The Marin Memorial 5miler, presented by Tamalpa Runners, is just around the corner on Monday May 25th 9am start time!🔥 Day of registration starts at 7:30am and adds $10.😬

This will be a flat and FAST course running alongside Mount Burrell and sacred Coast MiWok land.

👉🏽The day will include fun activities for kids with a free bracelet making table, and one mile kids race.🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

💰PRIZE PURSE is $1,250 between for male and female and TEAMS for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Custom pint glasses will also be up for awards.

All registered runners will receive a custom logo hat by "BOCO”

💥We're about a week out from the new Tamalpa Memorial Day 5-Mile Race https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Novato/MarinMemorial5Mile
(which is also a great tune-up for the Dipsea, if you are participating in the annual migration from Mill Valley to Stinson).

This workout is one to prepare for the 5-mile race, the upcoming Dipsea, or just to keep you fast and fit!

⏰️Meet at 5:30am at San Rafael High School

🌞warm-up:
At least 1600m (4 laps) easy pace, reverse direction.

🦵🏽pre-workout
DRILLS!
- high knee skips
- open/close the gate
- carioca (over/unders)
- butt kickers (kick from below, not from behind)
- high knees to a strider
Two laps of jogging the curves and striding the 100m straights.

🔥main workout:
4x1200m: first three are at goal 5-mile pace, the last one at goal 5k pace. In between each is a 400m easy lap.
Then 4x200m fast, but relaxed. Jog a 200m before each so that each fast 200 finishes at the end of the home stretch.

🌬cool-down:
4 laps in the reverse direction.

With warm-up and cool-down this will be 7 miles total around the track.

The Tamalpa Runners Memorial Day 5 Miler is gonna be 🔥!

🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️Tamalpa Runners🏃‍➡️ are bringing back our historic Memorial Day run with a 5 mile road race!

While the race will NOT be part of the PA Series in 2026 (plans are to provide a preview for 2027), rest assured, this is a very fast course and WILL BE a certified distance.

PRIZE 💰 IS UP FOR GRABS IN SEVERAL CATEGORIES ‼️

SPECIAL DISCOUNT for registered USATF and Tamalpa members

All runners🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ and walkers🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏾‍♀️are welcome to participate!! We’ll have food and activities for kids at the finish. Additionally, all registered runners will receive a custom logo BOCO hat just like the one Bucky is wearing.🐾
