Well finally getting some 2026 pics up.
Had lots of folks asking about the fishing post hurricane. I had told most people in the year and a half that the lake was closed that I felt like the fish were fine, they are pretty resilient and adapt well to harsh conditions.
Apparently that is true. Fish populations seem to be just fine. The only difference I have noticed is that the average size seems to be a little smaller this year than usual.
That's very encouraging to me though, lets me know that fish spawns and broods were successful before and after the hurricane.
We've caught most of our regulars, largemouth, small mouth, white bass, crappie, and bluegill, And seeing good numbers of shad.
The only regular fish that we have not caught post hurricane are yellow perch . I'm guessing they're there, just hiding somewhere.
The lake looks pretty much like it did above water before the storm, for the exception of a few missing boat houses, and lay down trees that were cleaned out.
In certain areas the lake bottom and depth has changed quite a bit. Been having to adapt to the new changes in the fish habitat.
We've only been able to get on the lake since mid-May so all these pics are from then till now.
Would like to say I'm super thankful to everyone that was involved in the cleanup efforts in this area. Whether you were paid or volunteer, thank you very much.
And for folks that reached out post hurricane to offer support, money, etc. Wanting to say thanks to y'all too. And thanks to the folks that have been coming to the area to support local businesses. First class y'all.
