A shift is coming mid 2023… In 1996, I earned my B.A. In Psychology from the University of Washington with the intention of someday going into private practice as a therapist. At that time, I had been teaching fitness for three years and decided to combine my passion for fitness with my desire to help others, and started my personal training/group fitness business & career. Six years ago I received my certification as an A.C.E. Behavior Change Specialist, and have been working with clients part-time outside my personal training business to help guide them toward better health and more intentional lifestyle choices. After 29 years of teaching fitness and working with clients toward body change and improved health and fitness, I’ve seen that beyond the traditional approaches to fitness & nutrition guidance, there is often a need to go deeper and to work on the mind, thought patterns, and other life issues in order to experience breakthroughs and success with food & body issues and with fitness & nutrition. I have decided to take the next big step in my career by attending The Institute for the Psychology of Eating to receive my Mind Body Eating Coach Certification. In mid 2023, I will be transitioning to a private practice where I will provide one-on-one counsel, education, accountability, and support for clients struggling with binge eating, overeating, emotional eating, chronic dieting, food obsession, body image struggles, mood challenges, and more. I am extremely excited to be stepping into the fulfillment of my passion for helping people navigate and overcome challenges with food, body, and self-image. I will post updates as I officially transition into opening up appointments for one-on-one work, but please feel free to reach out anytime along the way if you have any questions or are interested in receiving guidance and support. -Allyson
