10 years ago I took a leap of faith and went to a town where I didn’t know a single soul to open up a gym in a town I’ve never been to. Halle and I just got engaged, lived in a tiny apartment and took whatever savings I had to open up a gym.
10 years later we surpassed my wildest expectations of what I thought this place would become. We started with less than 100 dollars in the gyms bank account and I promised myself that no matter what happens, I would work to make sure this place never fails. Despite the challenges that we knew would happen and ones we never thought in a million years could happen like in 2020, our commitment to you never wavered and every moment that demanded sacrifice from us, was met back 10 fold. You have always been the lighthouse for safety in life’s hardest moments both in our life and for all of our Core 4 Family.
The truth is the ONLY reason we’ve been around for 10 years is because of you. If you’ve stepped foot in our gym you know it’s much more than just a place to workout. You have become our family, our friends, made friends with each other, been invited to your kids weddings, gone on vacations together. This has always been so much more than a place of just to exercise or get healthy. Despite losing 1000s of pounds, getting off medications, and adding years to your lives, you’ve made it a place where everyone feels like they are part of something bigger, a family.
When we opened 10 years ago I was only 29 years old, we weren’t married yet, had no kids, didn’t have a town to call home or roots planted, but you left us with a place for so many, ourselves and kids included, to call our own. Which is why it’s so unbelievably hard to say goodbye…but it’s time. Its something that I’ve wrestled with and prayed over for weeks on end if this is the right time.
How do you say goodbye to something that helped you mold you into the person you are today and helped transform the lives of so many, including our very own. A place with people that supported you in the hardest and darkest of times. A place filled with so much joy, so much happiness. A place where you get to see people that you LOVE each day. But as life grows and the chapters of our story turn to the next page, so do we and it’s time to write the next chapter.
As an outsider coming into the small town, you guys welcomed to me with open arms, and as a family, we did the same to anyone that walked into our doors. The spirit, the friendships, the relationships & the love will last forever from this special place which and something we will be forever grateful for.
You’ve left us with family and friends for a lifetime, people that our children think are their aunts, uncles, and grandparents by blood and a place to call home for decades to come.
On Saturday, December 20th we will be sending off Core 4 Milford to retire its jersey to the rafters, going out in a blaze of glory as a champion.
We know that you will keep the spirit, friendships, the love, the work ethic alive and strong. Even though it’s time to ride off into the sunset you’ve left us with enough love for a lifetime that will continue forever.
Forever Grateful,
Cory DiMaria
