I’m still smiling when I think about Friday’s Free Community Class.
What a morning.
First, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for showing up, for practicing, for bringing donations, and for being part of something that felt really special.
The theme of the class was inspired by Man in the Mirror and the idea that if we want to change the world, we begin by looking within. It’s a message that has been speaking to me lately, and it felt easy to share because it’s something I’m trying to live myself.
We practiced in a circle, which I loved. Throughout class, we returned again and again to the idea of connection—sitting side by side, sharing the same space, rooted to the same earth beneath us, and rising together from that support. Looking around the room, I was reminded how much we need one another.
Then came savasana.
Leo’s rendition of Man in the Mirror was beautiful. His voice was soothing and heartfelt and somehow seemed to carry us all a little deeper into stillness. It was one of those moments you can’t really plan for—it just happens—and it felt a little magical.
And then there was your generosity.
I was so touched by the number of donations that came through the door—bags of supplies, gift cards, cash donations, and so much kindness.
Everything collected is being donated to the Beth-El Center, whose wish list supports people who are currently unsheltered and those continuing to rebuild stability after one of Connecticut’s harshest winters. Many are still living in encampments and relying on street outreach services. The items and funds donated will help provide some comfort, safety, and dignity during a difficult time.
Friday reminded me of something important: small acts matter.
Showing up matters.
Practicing together matters.
Caring for one another matters.
And when a room full of people comes together with open hearts, good things happen.
Thank you for helping make it such a wonderful morning
