On Wednesday, July 16th, at approximately 7:13 pm, Jackson was dispatched for a call of multiple people that were struck by lightning at the Black Knights Bow Benders Archery Range which is located on Perrineville Road.

It was also relayed that one of the victims was currently in the middle of having CPR performed on him.

Upon officers arrival, it was confirmed that one male victim was having CPR performed on him, while multiple victims were being triaged on site by responding emergency services. it was ascertained that one of the victims was knocked unconscious but later regained consciousness.

Unfortunately, as a result of the incident, Robert Montgomery, (Age 61) of Cinnaminson Twp., NJ, succumbed to his injuries.

(14) other victims had suffered injuries ranging from burns to complaints of pain in addition to not feeling well as result of the incident.

Emergency Services who responded to help treat the victims were from Jackson Twp., Toms River Twp., Howell Twp., Plumstead Twp., Freehold Twp., Millstone Twp. as well as Hatzolah of Central Jersey in addition to Paramedics from RW Barnabus Health System and Atlantic Health Systems.

Additionally support was given by Cassville Volunteer Fire Company and Fire District #2.

The archery event at the location was organized and attended by members of Jackson Cub Scout Pack 204 and as a result, victims varied in age ranging from 7 years of age to 61 years of age.

Victims were transported to both Jersey Shore University Medical Center and CentraState Medical Center as a result of their injuries. One victim was transported to the Livingston Burn Center as a result of a severe burn caused by the strike.
