MEMBER EVENT UPDATE

Due to the course renovations, the 2026 Member-Member/Guest will be moved from July 10-12 to Sept. 11-13.

OUR FAIRWAYS ARE GETTING A FACELIFT!

In an effort to continue improving playing conditions, SDGC will be repairing and upgrading our fairways beginning June 18.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR GOLF?

Starting June 18 (Thursday), we will be closing holes 1 and 18 to plant new IronCutter Bermuda grass in the fairways. During the closure, holes 2 through 17 will remain open and golfers will play holes 2 & 3 twice as the 17th and 18th holes. Directions will be provided before each round during the renovation period.

Also, during this time, golfers will receive a 25 percent discount off their round.

Today marks the start of the 2nd annual Member Match Play tournament at Southern Delaware Golf Club.

John Messick Jr. returns to defend his title, which he won by defeating Jay Reed 2-up in 2025. Messick never trailed in any of his matches a year ago.

The 18-man bracket, NCAA basketball tournament-style bracket will feature two play-in matches, which features the last four members to sign up, that must be played by June 22.

In the Upper Deep Branch Region, Gary Long faces off against Brian Roberts. On the other side of the tournament, Scott Hermansader meets Allan Wagamon.

The Long-Roberts winner will advance to face Mike Foster. Other first round matches on the Upper Deep Branch side features a rematch of last year's third place match as Phil Strassle takes on Don Patten; Jimmy Clingan will meet Mike Hughes. Messick opens defense of his crown against Mike Campion.

On the Lower Deep Branch side, the Hermansader-Wagamon victor will take on Reed.

Other opening round Lower Branch matches include Corey Messick vs. John Tribbitt, Rich Recicar against Steven Wrede, and Pat Gunning taking on Bob Duetsch.

All first round proper matches will be played between June 23 and July 13.

Players should call the Pro Shop at 302-491-7933 to let Director of Golf Stewart Fisher or Assistant Pro Caden Stanley know the date and time of their match so scorecards can be made up for their match.
