MANALAPAN BRAVES 12U RED CAP OFF THEIR COOPERSTOWN DREAMS PARK TOURNAMENT WEEK WITH A HISTORIC PLAYOFF RUN!!
The Braves started off the CDP Week with an impressive showing at the skills competition. Matteo Pasculli won the King of Swat (HR Derby) event by hitting a walk off moon shot in the finals and the team also finished in the Top 5 for the around the horn plus event. In pool play the Braves Red managed to keep pace with the other 104 teams coming in at 3 wins & 3 losses and a Tournament playoff seeding of 52. This seed would prove to be the start of something special. The braves opened up their playoff run by beating the Upper Saddle River Cardinals 17 -5 followed by a 2nd playoff win against the Canes (NC) 4-1. After winning back to Back playoff games, the Braves had to play a third game against the 16 seed Palo Verdes Waves from California and in grand fashion the Braves ousted the 5-1 team by a score of 14-6, then a 4th playoff game, all in one day, now against the 17 seed Peninsula Tides (VA) and the Braves continued their Historic playoff run by beating the Tide 9-3. This capped off a 4th playoff win and a bid into the sweet 16, a spot that no other Manalapan Braves team had ever reached.
Having advanced to the sweet 16 on the final day of the CDP Tournament, the Braves were unable to keep the momentum, losing to the number 1 seed AV Samurai (CA) and finished their Cooperstown Dreams park tournament with an impressive record of 7-4.
The Manalapan Braves 12U Red (Andrew Ackerman, Frank D’Amore, Gino Gambale, Will Heller, David Korman, Liam Martin, Anthony Matteis, Matteo Pasculli, Aarush Sood, Kenny Sclafani & Tyler Kane 11U) proved that with teamwork, hard work and dedication to the game Dreams can be accomplished!!
