What a weekend!
We still have a few loose ends to tie up, but we're excited to share that our community is over $32,000 raised through the Walters Family Memorial Tournament for the Jordan & Sierra Walters Family Benefit Fund!
From every donation, raffle ticket, meal purchased, sponsorship, volunteer, and every person who came out to support this special weekend, thank you. Your generosity has been nothing short of incredible.
While the financial support will make a tremendous difference, what means just as much is seeing the smiles on the kids' faces throughout the weekend. We may have even found our best first base coach yet (Knight)!
This tournament was about much more than baseball. It was about a community coming together, honoring Jordan and Sierra's memory, and reminding the Walters family that they are surrounded by love and support.
There are so many people who deserve recognition that it's impossible to thank everyone individually, but a few deserve special mention:
The Fanning family for bringing the carnival to the ballfields and creating memories that went far beyond baseball.
The Dameron family, Zach Taylor, and Ryan McAdams for making baseball happen on what felt like an impossible weekend. Through rain delays, schedule changes, and countless challenges, they never stopped working to make sure the kids got to play.
The DeBolt family, Walker family, Strassell family, and Snyder family for the countless hours spent planning, organizing, setting up, cleaning up, and quietly taking care of whatever needed to be done. So much of what made this weekend special happened because of your dedication behind the scenes.
Milan Youth Football for keeping everyone fed from the grill and organizing the Adults vs. Kids Wiffle Ball Game... sorry, kids!
Lawrenceburg for providing the supplies needed to get our fields back into playing condition after the weather tried its best to stop us.
Manchester, South Dearborn, Jac-Cen-Del, Batesville, Greensburg, Lawrenceburg, and Versailles for sticking with us, being flexible, and playing alongside us despite the ever-changing schedule. We also want to thank the many other teams that registered and were ready to participate. We wish Mother Nature had allowed us to see everyone on the field.
A special thank you to Rising Sun, Jac-Cen-Del, Dillsboro, South Dearborn, Manchester, Batesville, Switzerland County, and Versailles for their individual generous donation and support of the Walters family.
And to the countless businesses, organizations, volunteers, coaches, parents, players, and community members we haven't mentioned by name, please know your contributions did not go unnoticed. This tournament was successful because countless people stepped up in ways both big and small. Every act of kindness made a difference.
We'll share a final fundraising total once all deposits have been made and the remaining raffle proceeds, auction items, and pledged donations have been received.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this weekend one we'll never forget. We truly hope the Walters Family Memorial Tournament continues for years to come, not only to honor Jordan and Sierra's memory, but to celebrate the spirit of this community and remind us all what can happen when people come together to lift up one of their own.
