Today we’re excited to introduce Coach Dusty Hostetler!

Coach Dusty serves as our Quarterbacks Coach and Offensive Coordinator and is entering his 3rd season coaching with the Sonshine Academy Scorchers.

💡 Fun Fact:
Coach Dusty is a lifelong football fan who has followed the game his entire life, despite never playing himself. He has been a faithful member of Open Door Baptist Church since 2003, where he met his wife, Amanda.

🥩 Favorite Food:
A perfectly grilled steak! Coach Dusty loves firing up the grill, and his kids know it’s a good day when dad is cooking steak.

“The joy I get from seeing the kids succeed is way more than I thought I would feel when entering to coach. I love all the kids that have come through the Scorcher program. I strive not only to help guide them throughout football but also to help build them as young men. It all starts with God, but without being told the story and having wonderful coaches backing this organization it would be for not. I didn't seek out or look for a opportunity to coach. The Lord saw it as a need, and sometimes we have to take ourselves out of it and let the Lord guide us to succeed.”

Today we’re excited to introduce Coach Kevin Downing, Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Sonshine Academy Scorchers!

Coach Kevin has dedicated more than a decade to coaching youth football and is passionate about using the game as a platform to develop young men of character, faith, and leadership.

“• I’m a huge football guy, but my greatest passion is serving Jesus Christ and helping young men grow into strong Christian leaders.
• I teach Sunday School and Bible Club at Open Door Baptist Church.
• I can talk football, ministry, and youth development for hours without needing a timeout.”

“I’ve been coaching youth football for over 10 years and currently serve as the Athletic Director and Head Coach of the Sonshine Academy Scorchers.”

As we gear up for an exciting 2026 season, we want to remind all parents to complete their player registration forms as soon as possible!

While registration paperwork is not due until July 20, it would be extremely helpful for our staff to begin receiving submissions now so we can start processing forms and preparing for the season.

✅ Please go ahead and begin completing the Google Form even if you do not yet have all of the required documents available for upload.

✅ If you have a Google account, your progress will automatically save, allowing you to return later and finish uploading any remaining documents.
