Elliott Wilson and Stew Surratt both attended New Mexico State University where each earned a marketing degree and PGA Class A status through the Professional Golf Management program. Their work paths t
ook different directions after college, but the two have come back to Virginia and established Motiv Golf, a multi-layered coaching experience based at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, VA. Motiv Golf aims to make you better as a player whether you are a seasoned professional or new to the game through knowledgeable golf coaching combined with the best technology resources and a world-class, year-round outdoor teaching facility.
“Looking at Independence and our facilities, we have a huge grass range that gives us the capability to have mobile outdoor hitting bays where we can hit off grass year round,” says Wilson, the director of golf at Independence. The technology includes V1 Sports (teaching software) and a GC Quad Foresight launch monitor for gathering clubface and ball data. Two hitting bays located beneath the protective mobile canopy by CoverShots will have mounted TV screens that display what the coaches are looking at on the computer.
“Players will be able to understand the change we’re making and what it’s doing to the performance of each shot,” Wilson says. Wilson and Surratt are fully invested in each player’s golf game and being coaches.
“We feel it is important for all club fittings and coaching to be conducted off natural grass, and for each player to see the ball fly in the air to validate results. Just like you would on a golf course,” Surratt says. THE COACHES

Certifications: Callaway Certified Club Fiitter; V1 Sports teaching software; Foresight GC Quad Launch Monitor. On the course: Accomplished competitor in MAPGA section tournaments; qualified for 2019 PGA Club Professional Championship.
