Our summer beginner sessions are shorter for the season, making it even easier to step in and try something new. Along the way, you will meet people, learn in a welcoming environment, and experience tango in a way that feels approachable from the very beginning.

Outside of class, the summer continues with milongas, member celebrations, and evenings that bring everyone together on and off the dance floor.

A lot of people come in expecting to take a dance class. What they find is a community and friends they want to keep coming back to.👯

This summer, we are slowing the schedule down without slowing the experience down.💃

Our summer session moves to a three-week format, giving you a relaxed way to keep dancing, stay connected, and continue growing throughout the season.

That also means our Super Beginner Courses are only three weeks long during the 3 summer months.✨

You will move through the course a little faster, celebrate with a glass of champagne at the end, and have the opportunity to become an official Virginia Tango member even sooner.

From there, you can continue attending classes, working on your skills at practica, and joining us at milongas throughout the summer.

If you’ve been thinking about trying it, we have a simple place to start!

Our Super Beginner Easy Start Course is designed for people with zero experience. You don’t need a partner and you don’t need to feel ready. You just show up and begin.🙌

Classes meet Thursdays at 7 pm for one hour each week, over 3 to 4 weeks. The next session is June 11-25!

Along the way, you start to feel more comfortable moving, more connected to the music, and more at ease with a dance partner.

At the end of the course, we celebrate together!🥂 You’ll be invited to a member party where you can dance, meet the community, and experience what tango feels like beyond the class.

Join the tango club.💃🕺🏽

At the end of the Super Beginner course, students receive their first bracelet. It marks the beginning of becoming part of the Virginia Tango community.

As time goes on, more bracelets are added through classes, milongas, and experiences shared together. They come back each week not only because they love tango, but because they feel connected to the space and the people in it.

What starts as trying something new slowly becomes something familiar. You recognize faces when you walk in, you stay after class talking, and before long, it feels natural to keep coming back.

What is a milonga?🤔

A milonga is a social tango dance party where people come together to listen to the music, dance, and connect. It is a passionate cultural experience that is recreated in every major city all over the world.

A milonga is different from a class or performance. It’s the party that is all about how you express your own tango dance.

If you have been curious about tango, here is as easy way to step in:

At our milonga, the evening begins with a free class for complete beginners at 5pm, followed by the social dance where the floor opens and the room comes alive.

Our next milogna is May 30th, 5pm is when the free beginner class starts, from 6-10 pm the social dance happens that includes a DJ, dancing, food and drinks for just $20!

Come, observe, and take it in, you don’t need to know how to dance to have fun at this party! 🙌

Do I need a partner?👀

No, you don’t need to come with anyone. You’ll have the opportunity to dance with others in the room, which is part of how tango is learned.

You don’t need experience. This is designed for people learning from zero, even if you feel like you have two left feet.😜

You don’t need special shoes. Just wear something comfortable you can move in.

You don’t need to feel ready. You can start exactly where you are!

This week is one of our favorites.😍

➡️ Thursday we celebrate our beginners. Four weeks ago, they walked in unsure and now look at them, confident! The last night of the Super Beginner Course starts at 7 p.m. at the studio, the champagne starts at 8 p.m, and all our members are invited to come celebrate with them!

And Saturday, we dance.💃

➡️ The Milonga is where everything comes alive! The music, the energy, and a room full of people all moving together. Doors open at 5pm for a FREE super beginner pre-milonga class, as well as a $15 intermediate class if you want a little warm-up before the dance.

Drop-in to the milonga for $20, or $35 if you want the pre-milonga class included. No partner needed. No experience required, just show up.
