Cypress Survival Swim-Midland

Cypress Survival Swim-Midland Infants and young children are transformed from being totally helpless in the water into confident, capable swimmers in weeks, not years.

My name is Lisa Essner, owner of CSS, and I am by certified Survival Swim Development Network. I have been teaching swim lessons in Cypress, Texas for several years. In September of 2020 we had the pleasure of moving to Gonzales, Louisiana. My husband and I have two children and we all enjoy recreational swimming and baseball/softball. My interest in becoming a swim instructor came after 15 years

as a Respiratory Therapist in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Houston’s largest trauma center, where I dedicated my career to saving children’s lives. Each year, the number of drownings I was tending to seemed to be increasing and I soon realized that I could make a positive difference by helping to save a child’s life before they drowned, instead of after. I am looking forward to the opportunity to help your child learn survival swimming skills and enjoy many safe Summers for years to come!

⭐Swim Star of the Week! ⭐

Let’s give a big round of applause to this week’s Swim Star!

This little swimmer recently achieved an incredible milestone by successfully completing a 2-minute survival float test while fully clothed and wearing a regular diaper. 👏💙

Learning to float independently in real-life conditions is a major step in building water safety skills and confidence. Milestones like this are the result of hard work, consistency, and determination.

We are so proud of the progress being made and can’t wait to see what accomplishment comes next!

Way to go! ⭐🏊

🌊💙 Making Waves Together 💙🌊

Some of life’s sweetest moments happen side by side.

Watching siblings learn water safety skills together is a reminder that confidence grows even stronger when you have a built-in best friend cheering you on.

While each child develops at their own pace, they’re both gaining valuable skills that can help keep them safer around the water while building confidence, independence, and a love for swimming.

These smiles say it all! 😊

💦 Why do we repeat skills so often in survival swim lessons? 💦

Because repetition builds confidence, muscle memory, and life-saving habits.

When children practice the same self-rescue sequence over and over, their bodies learn what to do without having to stop and think. In an emergency, that automatic response can make all the difference.

At Cypress Survival Swim, every float, roll, swim, and recovery is practiced with purpose, helping children develop the skills they need to respond under stress and stay safer in and around the water.

🌊 Consistency creates confidence.
🌊 Repetition builds muscle memory.
🌊 Practice prepares them for the unexpected.

🐒💦 Sound On for This One! 💦🐒

Confidence is built one small step at a time and today’s victory is the Monkey Crawl! 🏊‍♀️

Listen closely as this little swimmer practices “apart, together” while moving safely along the pool wall. This important skill helps children learn how to navigate the pool edge, build independence in the water, and gain confidence with every lesson.

The best part? Hearing them talk themselves through it and seeing that confidence shine through! 🌟

Every swim lesson is about more than swimming. It’s about building life-saving skills, confidence, and a love for the water.

🎥 Turn your sound on and cheer this swimmer on!

🩵 Pool fences and secure gates save lives. 🩵

One of the most important layers of protection around water is restricting unsupervised access to pools. A properly secured fence and self-latching gate can help prevent children from entering the water alone. 🌊

At Cypress Survival Swim, we encourage families to use multiple layers of water safety protection:
✔️ Active supervision
✔️ Secure pool barriers
✔️ Swim lessons
✔️ Water safety education

Small safety measures can make a life-saving difference.

💗 Did you know? 💗

Children can drown in as little as 2 inches of water. Drowning can happen quickly and silently, which is why constant supervision and water safety education are so important. 🌊

Bathtubs, kiddie pools, buckets, and standing water can all pose a risk to young children. Never leave a child unattended near water, even for a moment.

💛 ACTIVE SUPERVISION IS MOST IMPORTANT 💛

One of the biggest keys to water safety is staying actively engaged and within arm’s reach of your child around water. Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, which is why constant supervision matters. 🌊

🩵 Stay close
🩵 Stay alert
🩵 Stay distraction free

This Drowning Prevention Awareness Month, let’s work together to keep children safer around water.

💦 FACTS ABOUT FLOATIES 💦

Floaties may seem helpful, but they can actually create a false sense of security in the water. While they help keep children upright, they can also interfere with learning real swimming and survival skills.

At Cypress Survival Swim, we believe in building confidence through real water safety skills that can help save lives. 🩵

✔️ Get in the water and actively assist your child
✔️ Enroll your child in swim lessons
✔️ Use Coast Guard approved life jackets in open water or boating situations

Drowning prevention starts with awareness, supervision, and proper water education. 🐥🌊

Be Prepared. Be Confident.

Knowing CPR is one of the most powerful ways you can protect the people you love.

In an emergency, those first few moments matter, and being prepared can help you stay calm and take action when it counts.

Learning CPR for both adults and children is a simple step that can make a life-saving difference.

✨ It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being ready.
