At the State Games in Holland Saturday June 13 was not just Softball Games.

We were able to honor one USA Softball of Michigan greatest influencers. I our Yearly Commissioners Meeting this last winter. We awarded Tony Garza the Art Serafinski Award of Excellence to Tony. We able to finally able to present him with this award in front of his umpire colleagues and few Commissioners. Tony is a FANTASTIC example of what makes USA Softball of Michigan great. What he does off the field to make everything run smoothly is incredible.

Congratulations Tony!

Last weekend ended the Class E Qualification round in The Men’s E Slow Pitch for 2026 at the State Games. Holland, MI.

With 15 teams competing for the top spot a familiar team was able to keep their reign. But it was without many challenges or challengers. Excile and Play Attention fought the spot to take on the Al-In in the loser bracket final. Both teams were the leading run scorers of the tournament. Play Attention was able to keep the Excile’s runs off the board. The first team to do so.

I a hard fought battle with awesome defense the whole game Play Attention was unable to knock All-In off the throne. It most defiantly a well played 5-7 ball game.

Congratulations too all the teams that came try their best. A great tournament.

Our top three teams
Bronze Excile
Silver Play Attention
Gold All-In

Another softball tournament in the books. USA Softball of Michigan held a Men’s F Slow-pitch tournament in Davison, hosted by District 13, yesterday. All 4 fields started their first game of the day 10-15 minutes early. One field actually started their 1245 scheduled game at 1205. On the other had their was a field a full game behind at the same time.
Somehow, when we dropped to 2 fields for the 315 games, everything was on schedule.
The 545 championship game started
At 550. First time all year we haven’t been an hour or more behind for this game. We also had not played the IF game this year in any of our tournaments. Well, yesterday we had the IF game which started 5 minutes late.
It was a great day and we had bright sunshine all day long. The red arms, face and neck prove that.
Thanks to the hustle that was shown by the teams, umpires, tournament director and grounds crew, this was all possible.
Now, time to rest up and get ready for the State Games in Holland in two weeks.
Congratulations to team Garber on their win.

Second E Slow Pitch Qualifier is in the books. Davison hosted 16 teams yesterday,May 16th, 2006.

In the 30 games played the teams scored 570 runs at an average of 19 runs per game. The defense is getting better as the season is progressing. I am sure the warm weather is helping in that department. We got lucky with only the one lightning delay early in the morning. Still playing 30 games in one day makes for a long day.

About a quarter after 10 last night we awarding our runner up and champion for the tournament. Repeat team in the championship round All In versus Swingerz. In the end after a valiant effort Swingerz were unable to knock All In off the top of the pedestal. The game started close then All In took a late lead. The final was 12 to 7. Great game by both teams.

Great games by all teams in the whole tournament. Many different outcomes from tournament one in Ypsilanti to Davison.

Our second Qualifier of the year and first Men’s F Slow Pitch State Qualifier of the season was hosted by Delta Township and the Greater Lansing Sports Commission. Games were played at Mount Hope park and finished at Erickson Park.

We had 11 teams playing on another cold day. The weather didn’t hold their bats back. They batted 506 runs in the 20 games played, averaging 25.3 runs per game.

Many exciting games, with most being close with many changes in the lead. The championship proved the competitiveness of the tournament with a 26 to 21 battle. In the end Usurpurs prevailed over Legacy.

Thank you to all the teams for making this tournament such a success. It was great to have USA Softball of Michigan back in the Lansing Area.

April 25 was our first Slow Pitch E State Qualifier of the year played in Ypsilanti Township, Art Serafinski Fields.

We had 16 teams playing on this cold windy day. 777 total runs were scored in 30 games of play, averaging over 25 runs per game. No wonder we were over one and half hours behind schedule.

In the end the team from the winner bracket had to come back from a large deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the Championship game 16-17.

The championship game was in true fashion of the whole day very competitive, back and forth scoring, excellent play!!!
