I wanted to give a more elaborate shout-out to a kid named Silas Allred of Nebraska who etched his name into the radars of several wrestling fans across the nation with a huge weekend at the 2023 Big Ten Wrestling Championships this past weekend! Silas won the 197 lb title this weekend, defeating returning NCAA Champ, Max Dean of Penn State in the process by the score of 6-3! Silas is a first year starter for the Huskers and is riding a very nice wave heading into the 2023 NCAA D1 National Championship Tournament!

After researching this kid’s career a bit further, I was blown away by some of his HS stats prior to joining Nebraska. To started he was a 2X Indiana HS State Champion who at Shenadoah High School for Head Coach Jason Barbosa! He had a career record of 146-2 in HS and 138 of these 142 wins were by fall!!! In other words, 94.5% of his wins in HS were by fall! Further yet, 93.2% of his TOTAL matches that he wrestled in HS resulted in Silas Allred winning by fall. That’s amazing. On top of that, Silas was a; Super 32 All American, Fargo All American, USAW National Champion, FloNationals champion, a 2020 Wrestling USA Academic All-American with 4.317 GPA, Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award recipient, 2020 Amateur Wrestling News Third-Team All-American, 2020 Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine Wrestler of the Year in Indiana and 2020 USA Today Indiana Wrestler of the Year!
So this kid is putting together a BRILLIANT wrestling career that has continued to the D1 level for Nebraska and I’m sure we will hear his name a lot in the future! Well-spoken, respectful person in interviews as well!
Way to go, Silas!
