This clinic is hosted by Marc Tomo, Head Football Coach—Middletown High School South and is a great opportunity to learn the game, get back in “football mode” and meet the coaching staff of MHSS.

This Clinic is NOT geographically limited to Chargers/MHSS territory—Anyone can participate! Usually, MHSS incoming freshmen football players are expected to attend the Clinic.

Starting in 2026 AYF has updated the cutoff date to ages as of July 1st, 2026.

Programs Offered:

⚡️Flag Football & Flag Cheer (Ages 4-6): All about having fun, staying active, and learning the basics in a safe and positive environment. Players and cheerleaders are introduced to the sport. Coaches are on the field at all times to help guide the kids, teach skills and keep everyone engaged.

⚡️Instructional Tackle Football (Ages 7-8): Our instructional football programs for ages 7 and 8 are designed to introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

⚡️Competitive Tackle Football (Ages 9-14): Our competitive tackle football program for ages 9 through 14 builds off the instructional levels emphasizing proper tackling techniques, football fundamentals, position specific development, and advanced team concepts while competing in structured conference and league play.

⚡️Sideline Cheer (Ages 7-14): Our program is designed to introduce athletes to the fundamentals of cheer in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

The River Plaza Lincroft Chargers family mourn the loss of one of its longtime members, Coach George ‘Rusty’ Merrill. He was an integral supporter of the Chargers program and coach, who continued coaching many years after his own children left the program. Coach Rusty passed away at the age of 86.

Coach Rusty was involved with our program for over thirty years.

He spent most of that time coaching the midget/14U level with Coach Nick Trezza Sr. and Coach Fischer.
Coach Rusty was inducted into the Jersey Shore American Youth Football League’s Touchdown Club in 2011 to recognize his twenty five plus years of service to the youth of Middletown enrolled in the Charger program. The River Plaza Lincroft Chargers wishes to extend our sincere condolences to the Merrill family for their loss. We will keep Rusty and the Merrill family in our thoughts and prayers.

🚨Important Information🚨

· All participants must reside within the River Plaza, Lincroft, Nut Swamp and Village School District
· Participants outside the district must sign up through their home district and then must submit a waiver for NJAYF approval. This process needs to be followed each year, no exceptions.
· Regular Registration is open March 1st – May 31st
o Flag Football & Flag Cheer: $125
o Tackle Football & Cheer: $350
· Late Registration is June 1st – July 26th
o Flag Football & Flag Cheer: $150
o Tackle Football & Cheer: $375
· Family Registration Cap of $650 (refund after registration form is filled out)

The Chargers Football Clinic will be June 22nd - 25th– 3:00pm - 5:00pm. You can register at https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/513095 The clinic is only $25.00 to register and then you can pay in instalments. NOTE: Incoming Midd South freshmen are typically expected to attend the Chargers Clinic.
