Today, the Hodgson Football family mourns the passing of one of our own, Jamil Merrell.
Jamil was the definition of what it meant to be a Silver Eagle. A cornerstone of our 2007 undefeated State Championship team and a Lineman of the Year, he played the game with unmatched toughness, relentless effort, and an unbreakable will to win.
His high motor and refusal to lose made everyone around him better. He challenged his teammates to elevate their game and pushed his coaches to be their very best every single day.
Those same qualities carried over into his coaching career, where he continued to inspire and develop the next generation of student-athletes.
Jamil's impact on Hodgson Football extends far beyond wins and championships. His work ethic, passion, leadership, and love for the game helped define our program and left an imprint that will never fade.
Hodgson Football has lost a legend, but Jamil Merrell's legacy will live on forever—in every Silver Eagle who proudly wears our colors.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jamil's family, friends, former teammates, players, and everyone whose life he touched.
RIP Jamil... We got the hard work from here
