It is with heavy heart I share this post written by Lori Ann Howell. Over the years, Mrs. Pat wore many hats at Donya's Dance & Gymnastics. She was the secretary, bookkeeper, mom, grandmother, decorator, Christmas float planner, dance recital organizer, competiton cheerleader, costume designer, and most importantly my friend. Though the doors have been closed for many years now, she still spoke of the children taught and memories made with her typical sweet smile. She will be forever loved and missed. Please keep her family in your prayers during this time.
Grandma, where to begin. When our dad became a single parent, he was scared, because he did not know how to raise two baby girls all by himself. However, this Angel stepped in and became our Mom. She wasn’t our mom by birth, but we would have never traded her for anyone else.
She was always there for everything, for most people they thought she was our Mom! She was at all dance practices and recitals, all softball games, all our cheerleading events and so much more. She taught us about God, took us to church, and even taught us in Sunday school. Grandma taught us all we know about gardens, and boy did she love her flowers!! Then when we started having our own babies, she became even more special and was there to help and guide us!
Grandma was a part of so many people's lives, way too many to count on just one hand! She was loved by all!! She also blessed us with her stubbornness, too!
A couple weeks ago, I was called home, because she was sick and not getting better. These last two and a half weeks have been so emotional, but they will always be the most treasured part of my life. For the last few weeks, we surrounded Grandma with all the love she could ever need. Her babies were home and she loved every minute of it.
Yesterday my sister and I were there when she got her Wings!!! We know she knew what was happening and she refused to go to the hospital. She wanted to be surrounded by the ones she loved. Grandma went at home, just where she wanted to be. Now Grandma and Daddy are with each other and watching over us and our babies!!
Life will never be the same again, I wish we had more time, but life doesn’t work like that! We love you Grandma and we always will!! We will miss you tons, but we know you are happy, not in any pain, and with the ones you love and miss in a better place!!
Rest In Peace Grandma, there will never be anyone else like you!!
