🐾 The Middlebury Standard: Sahana Raman

Great players leave statistics.

Great leaders leave a legacy.

Sahana Raman ’25 etched her name into Middlebury Women’s Tennis history as one of the most accomplished Panthers to ever compete.

A force in both singles and doubles, Sahana finished her career as the program leader in:

🎾 Singles wins: 84
🎾 Doubles wins: 99

Her senior season was one for the record books. Sahana was named NESCAC Player of the Year, earned All-NESCAC First Team honors in singles and doubles, and helped lead Middlebury to its first-ever NESCAC Championship. She was also awarded the ITA Northeast Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.

Her success extended beyond the court as well, earning national recognition for her academics, leadership, and sportsmanship.

From championship moments to record-breaking performances, Sahana represents everything it means to be a Panther.

The final match isn’t the end of your Middlebury Women’s Tennis journey. It’s the beginning of a lifelong connection.

Relationships are at the heart of who we are. Our sisterhood extends far beyond four years, creating a community of Panthers who continue to support, challenge, and invest in one another long after graduation.

Our alumni stay connected by mentoring current players, returning to campus, cheering from afar, sharing career advice, and opening doors within their professional networks. These relationships can be an incredible resource as our student-athletes navigate careers, graduate school, and life after college.

Being a Panther means leaving Middlebury with more than a degree and four years of tennis—you leave with a lifelong community and network of people who want to see you succeed.

🐾 The Middlebury Standard: A Historic Championship

For years, Middlebury Women’s Tennis competed at the highest level.

For years, the Panthers chased the same goal.
In 2025, history was made.

Middlebury captured its first-ever NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championship, adding a new chapter to a program built on excellence, resilience, and belief.

This championship represented more than a trophy — it represented every player, coach, alumna, and supporter who helped build this program into what it is today.

The first one is always special.

And this one belongs to everyone who has worn the Panther uniform.

Panther Perspective 🐾 | Built for Championship Tennis

Championship development starts with having the right environment to grow.

At Middlebury, our student-athletes have access to some of the best tennis facilities in Division III. Our four real indoor courts were fully resurfaced in January 2026, giving our team a first-class space to train, compete, and pursue excellence year-round.

Our 12-court outdoor facility, built in Fall 2024, takes that commitment even further. With PlaySight cameras, a full speaker system, scoreboard, dedicated storage, and branded windscreens, every detail is designed to create an environment that supports purposeful practice, player development, and high-level competition.

Great facilities don’t create excellence on their own—but they give our student-athletes the tools, resources, and environment to chase it every day.

At Middlebury, we’re built for a championship experience. 🐾

Our next summer update comes from rising first-year, Lauren!!🐾🐾

“I started off the summer with a post-graduation trip to Tokyo with a few of my close friends. There, I had lots of fun shopping, eating, and sightseeing. At home, I work as a coach for my high schools tennis program, and in addition to that, I’ve been playing tennis, running, and going to the gym. In my free time, I’ve been hitting the beach and doing waterfall hikes!”

Being a student-athlete at Middlebury means pursuing excellence in every part of your life.

Our players challenge themselves in the classroom just as they do on the court. Whether they’re conducting research, studying abroad, leading student organizations, or building relationships with professors, they’re constantly growing as students and future leaders.

We believe that competing at the highest level of Division III athletics and receiving one of the best liberal arts educations in the country aren’t competing priorities—they complement one another.

Let’s hear from our lovely lady pants and what they’ve been up to this summer ☀️☀️☀️ First up is rising sophomore Ren Barton.

“This summer I’ve spent a lot of time with my family and friends from home! I’ve also been playing a lot of tennis, working out, and working at my dad’s restaurant. I was in Maine earlier this summer to see my extended family, and I also saw Noah Kahan perform at Fenway! More recently, I visited Doak and saw other MWT members/alumni at her house! It was so nice seeing everyone again and can’t wait to get back on campus with them!”

SUMMER UPDATE!! 💙🎾☀️

Recently 3 of our girls competed at an ITA tournament at URI!! Doak, Diya, and Ren competed hard in singles, and Doak and Ren were finalists in doubles!! Love to see the hard work in the summer! GO MIDD!!! 🐾🐾🐾
