This Friesian Sport Horse is the epitome of a gentle giant, and has started his career in the hunt field, proving to be a natural hunter. He has gone out several times second field with both Piedmont and Snickersville, with comments of “He is amazing!” “The Best,” "What a dude," and “You need to keep him!” He can easily tote around a "silver fox" or novice rider in the 2nd or 3rd fields, or he will be ready to step it up to the first field next season for a junior or amateur. He has no issues with first field galloping by while quietly waiting on the buckle, even on a day with 60+ riders out in it! He has a lovely foundation in many disciplines (driving, English, Western, trail riding) and he is ready to be your new best friend. He is sweet, quiet and honestly one of the most obedient and kindest horses I’ve ever met. Under saddle he is as gentle as he is to handle on the ground. He has a slower more collected trot you can sit and a nice big reach in the extended which is easy to post to. His canter is big and has lots of uphill suspension. When out on the trail he will take the lead or follow behind and is confident going through water, over logs and through brush. He is well started on becoming an excellent gate horse. In addition, he has been jumping natural- and hunt-type fences, and he is an excellent jumper! He also is an absolute gem under harness, as he’s a simple hitch and smooth and easy to drive. Bourbon is sound in every way and has no known previous injuries or medical issues, he has no known limitations, and he has no vices. He is the BEST to load, and will stand quietly tied in the trailer, aisle, or stall with no fussing. Horses like this one do NOT come along every day, with brain, looks, and athleticism!

It's getting close to the start of the hunt season in Virginia, so please check your tack and get all necessary repairs done now! This Champion & Wilton's stirrup fitting flap's stitching just started to let go the other weekend while on a schooling XC ride, and its owner wisely dropped it off right away to get the repair done before it got worse (and became a more expensive repair!). Just a quick conditioning left to do on it, and it's ready to go.

Description: This was a NoVA hunting lady's saddle. A hinge was later added on the offside for girthing convenience in the field, while maintaining clean lines. Doeskin seat and broad pommels. Beautifully flocked, panels in excellent condition. All the strap work and leather is in overall good condition, but as always I recommend replacing old billets. As you can see from the pictures, the doeskin seat really does need replaced, as it has several holes. Yes, patches can be put on if you want to keep using it, but long term it will need replacement. Comes with its original canvas cover.

Description: This was one of Mrs. Esther Everhart's Owen hunting side saddles, and its current owner hunted in it frequently until she lost the horse it fit. It was custom made with a Mayhew fitting and flap, and a hinge was later added on the offside for girthing convenience in the field, while maintaining clean lines. Doeskin seat and broad pommels. The leaping head cover was replaced at the same time it received new panels, approximately c. 1990. All the strap work and leather is in overall good condition. The current owner added sheepskin on the safe for added comfort. Ready to ride!

Description: C&Ws are a favorite in the hunt field and show ring. Doeskin seat and broad pommels. A Western repairer replaced all the strap work, both point pockets, and made a new stirrup leather. Leather overall is in good condition, but does have surface-only cracking on the offside flap. Panels do have wear, and I would recommend some new linen and a leather patch on the left side. Appears to be ready to ride otherwise.
Price: Consignor is selling as-is, and has priced it to move quickly at $1700. No off-site trials.

Tree Size: Saddle is a generous Medium and should suit narrower warmbloods, TBs, etc. In other words, a muscled horse with decent withers.

Description: Very hard to find larger-sized Whippy! Features outside girthing to make one's life easier when you don't have a groom! Leather seat and doeskin pommels. Linen panels. Reinforced tree for jumping. Breakaway Mayhew fitting design. Lovely wide broad pommels, very comfortable.
Slightly dipped seat which is so comfortable. It has normal marks from riding on the flaps and girth straps. It does need a point pocket repair at the tip, and stitching on the stirrup leather prong cover (see last pic). I would highly recommend all new billets.

Tree Size: Generous Wide tree, best suited for broad withered types with a flatter back that aren't exceedingly broad in the shoulders.

Description: This saddle is not only beautiful to look at, but beautiful to ride on! Lightly used since it's rebuild, it's like getting a new Owen! Buttery soft top quality leather and doeskin was used in the rebuilding. Single position leaping head. Designed for jumping, this saddle went hedge-hopping on an 15.1hh Irish cob 2x before import. It was then used for showing in the USEF Ladies Side Saddle division and hilltopping on an 15hh Irish cob (he is now retired). As you can probably tell, it fits the cob types well. ;) It will need a point pocket repair soon (see last pic), which can be done for the purchaser if desired.

Description: Stunning tan side-saddle that has had the tree vetted, new strap work, etc. Features outside girthing to make one's life easier when you don't have a groom! Doeskin seat and pommels. Linen panels. Reinforced tree for jumping. Breakaway Mayhew fitting design. Lovely broad pommels, very comfortable.
Flat seat which is desirable in equitation and jumping. It has normal marks from riding on the flaps and girth straps. The seat has some dirt marks, but minor. Needs a small stitching repair on the breakaway flap cover (see last pic).
