Midd-West High School’s Young American for May 2026 is Cali Sauer. She is the daughter of Chris and Carla Sauer of Middleburg. Cali holds several leadership positions as the Student Council Vice President, Spanish Club President, Senior Class School Board Representative, and Captain of the Girls Basketball and Softball Teams. Cali has been selected as a Student of the Month in 9th and 12th grade. She has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll every year through high school and is a member of the National Honor Society and Class Congress. Cali has earned softball honors as the 2024 Daily Item First Team 1B, 2025 PAHSSBCA Second Team All-State Softball Utility, and 2025 Daily Item Second Team Outfield. Cali gives back to her community by helping with local youth softball teams and being a blood donor. Additionally, she has given back to the school by volunteering as a 5th Grade Camp Outdoor Education Counselor at Camp Mount Luther, Trunk or Treats, and Elementary Basketball. Her favorite things to do are reading, shopping, playing softball, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, Cali is planning to attend Converse University to major in Biology while playing softball at the collegiate level. She believes she was selected as a Young American because of her involvement in the community as well as her leadership skills. Cali would like people to know that her family is a big influence on who she is. She appreciates everything that they do for her.

The details of the effort at Districts for Maddie Bonsall individually and the relay team are in and impressive.

Maddie shaved off time and PR in every race:
And her 4x100 team PR with 50.35 and setting a new school record! They claimed 4th place in districts!

Aleah is a 7th grader in the Midd-West basketball program and she got her first opportunity to use the Dr. Dish training machine. When asked what did the Dr. Dish do for you? She said, “The shooting machine helped me get a lot of shots in during practice. I was able to work on my form and shoot higher." She also asked, when can we do this again and she said, that machine is so cool.
Also, Aleah was able to coach herself during each shot, she began to correct herself, see the results of her training, and celebrate her success.
The future is now in the Midd-West program and the Dr. Dish training machine will help accelerate each players development to becoming an efficient shot maker.

The Midd-West basketball program extends its sincere appreciation to Selinsgrove Ford, Chris Kenawell - State Farm, Susquehanna RV, and Dr. Lisa of Lifeline Chiropractic for their generous support in purchasing the Dr. Dish training machine.
The program looks forward to seeing these athletes train with the Dr. Dish and taking their games to another level

The Midd-West program wrapped-up the season last week with an fun event. Thank you to the boosters for the evening that saw all the junior high players, varsity players, and parents come together to celebrate the 2025-26 season. Thank you to Cali, Emma, and Izzy on a successful senior season. Thank you to my assistant Coach Tori Wolfe on her tremendous contributions to the program. As I look back on the season, I’m very proud of the team’s dedication and commitment. There are lot of great basketball memories and time spent as a team.

What: The Midd-West Girls’ Basketball program is hosting a fun filled “Kids’ Night Out”.

When: Saturday, March 14th, 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Where: Midd-West Middle School Gym

Who: Midd-West Boys and Girls Elementary through Junior High students

Admission: $15/kid (cash only)

***Enter through door #9 at the rear of the Middle School

All proceeds will support the Midd-West Girls’ Basketball program.

The Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference (PHAC) post-season honors have been officially announced. Congratulations to Emma, Evelyn, and Izzy on their recognition. Coach Tori and I are very proud to see the program get this type of attention from all the coaches in the PHAC. Well deserved and again, congratulations ladies. Also, congratulations to the whole program. All seven team members played a tremendous part in moving the program forward. Thank you to you all for a memorable season number one for me and Coach Tori. 🏀👍
