💚Check out this stunning green speckled egg!
Here's some information on the breed that lays these gorgeous eggs:
The Isbar is the only purebred chicken breed that lays naturally green-tinted eggs. All other green egg-laying breeds are hybrids created by breeders. What's more, Isbars can add a unique touch to their eggs with purple speckles, making them a delightful addition to any daily egg collection.
Isbars are also incredibly resilient and cold-hardy. As skilled foragers, they produce an impressive 150-200 green eggs annually. While they're vigilant and alert to predators, Isbars are remarkably calm around people.
Their gentle nature extends to the roosters, which are known for being non-aggressive towards humans while fiercely protecting their hens.
The Silverudd Blue is a Swedish chicken breed developed in the 1980s by Martin Silverudd, a pastor from Småland, southern Sweden. Named in honor of its creator, the breed's title also references its distinctive blue plumage and scale genes.
Silverudd Blues are notable for their unique hatching patterns, which display a variety of colors including blue, black, and splash. The color of the chick is determined by the number of blue genes it inherits:
• No blue gene: black
• One blue gene: blue
• Two blue genes: splash
Unfortunately, the Silverudd Blue is a threatened breed, listed on The Livestock Conservancy's Conservation Priority List. By learning more about this unique breed and supporting conservation efforts, we can help ensure their continued survival. 💚
