So this past weekend didn't quite work out the way we wanted it to but we rolled with it and made the best of the situation. Friday we were running late and Azlynne didn't get to race. After rebuilding the DRR Ronald still could not get it to work, he went Friday morning and picked up another DRR hoping we could piece together a working bike for the weekend; that DID NOT work to our advantage. Allen took a test ride on his bike before loading it up Friday and the clutch flew apart so he was not able to race Friday night. Azlynne couldn't feel her fingers on the track from being cold and was not able to control her throttle to have a good race but she finished and that was all that mattered to her.
Saturday was spent working on bikes, Ronald was able to rebuild the clutch on Allen's bike only for it to give us fits starting. He tore Azlynne's DRR apart to hopefully find the problem so she could run it Saturday night only to be unsuccessful (back to the garage to get it figured out for next time). So, back to working on Allen's bike, we pulled it in the camper to warm it up (it is not cold natured) and kicked that darn thing for what seems forever. Racing started at 6 and by this time it was after 5. Finally, it kicked and Allen was able to take his maiden voyage. He went onto the track with a big man attitude and got adjusted quickly. He tried to jump the first jump but that didn't work in his favor, he almost went over the handlebars because he wasn't holding on tight enough. He gets straightened out and starts back around the track only to come over another jump a little fast and get his helmet stuck on his handlebars, still not sure how he managed that one. Then Azlynne took the track for practice on her 250, she had a good run and looked awesome.
We found out the race numbers, Allen would race 2nd and Azlynne would race 41st. Allen goes out for his race and kept his head high (even though he got lapped). He finished 7 out of 8 bikes but was so proud you would have thought he got a gold medal in the Olympics. We went back to the camper to have dinner and warm up and relax before Azlynne's race. Her race came up and she took the track. She was 4th in the hole shot and ended the race 6th, she had some tough competition and was able to hold off the 7th place bike even though he was on her tail the whole time. All in all we made it thru the weekend.
Now, this week we focus on academics. Azlynne will compete in Math Field Day tomorrow and her school Social Studies Fair on Thursday. Azlynne wore the go pro for her races and I will upload those videos as soon as I get caught up a few things around here.
Special THANK YOU to G-Force Powersports for overnighting us parts so we were able to at least attempt to get the DRR running, AOT (AOT Kip Edwards) for their sponsorship, we can't wait to be wearing their gear hopefully at our next race, our families for understanding our crazy schedules and their continued support.
