*Big Sigh* and a very happy kind of tired. Our last day of Farm Day with the MECC turned out to be super spectacular! With the weather threatening to be a challenge, we were proactive in setting up for the worse. And as the morning unfolded, those silly weather apps once again, well, let’s just say, were a bit, “off”, and we still have to water our gardens!!
Angie Natale, Adriana Huskins, Stacey & Autumn Perry, Janice Silva, & the Balmes’s were all behind the scenes cleaning the barn, setting up, and loading the hay back on the haywagon! The energy level was somewhat quiet compared to the last two days. Maybe we were kind of holding our breath in anticipation of those thunderstorms and foul weather that had been projected, or perhaps the fact we had a smaller team, or just needing a bit more sleep….
And then the buses rolled in, and the cheers & excitement of a hundred+ more children was the spark that was needed!
💥BAM💥

“TEAM PIXIE!” and the infamous ✨TWINKLE✨, the 🦄 unicorn, were back in action! (We hope to see some photos!!)
Farmer Jim manned the tractor & haywagon, and with his keen eyes, spotted a beautiful spotted turtle in the field, and everyone got to see! What a treat!
In the barn, there was lots of baby chicks to cuddle! Janice had her hands full for sure😉🐣
And Angie got to share her story book & tale to eager classes of attentive children!!
And best of all, there were hugs & thank you’s from of the children.
❤️The BEST reward❤️
We created our own lightning and energy, and what a great day it was!!! Until next year, we say goodbye to all our friends from the MECC, and hope we’ll get to see some of the wonderful pictures taken of the day!!
Thank you to all our dear, dear friends who were able to take time away from their daily jobs, school, families, and lives, to selflessly volunteer to make this such a wonderful and unique event!! Love you all❤️

Day 2 of Farm Day with the MECC was fantastic!! Again, a huge thank you to such a dear friend and veteran trooper, Chris Ferri for diving into another event to help out & volunteer her time & horse for the pony rides! Jess Huskins & her friend Lainie, Autumn Perry, Kalvin Zacchuber & his friend, the mighty unicorn, myself, and Stacey Perry were all down at the ring making sure the pony (unicorn) rides ran smoothly.
The barn was loaded with more classes intent on hearing Angie Natale’s story telling with the help of Cindy & Steve MacDonald. Janice Silva, Erin, & Eric Huskins were managing the baby chicks, and Farmer Jim kept the wheels rollin’ on not only the haywagon ride, but also the pace of the day.
We are so grateful that many of these people mentioned, were early on the scene, chipping in to make sure the barn was prepared, cleaned, animals fed & watered. The commitment & volunteer efforts that make Farm Day fun & entertaining for the children is really special. We are SO thankful for each and every one of you❤️

Day one of Balmy Acres Farm Days was a smashing success thanks to out AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!! Thank you to our dear friend and published author, Angie Natale, who read her book The Cookie Jar, A Sky View Adventure to the wonderful classes of Middleboro’s Memorial Early Childhood Center. She came with props & had additional sound effects & help from Cindy & Steve MacDonald who have been previous Farm Day volunteers. Keep your eyes open for a self portrait drawing of Steve in the barn, too!😉 There was a lot of peeping coming from the other end of the barn where another dear friend, Janice Silva & her helper, Eric Huskins could be found passing out baby chicks to be cuddled. (Happy Birthday Eric!!) Eric’s mom, another wonderful friend & seasoned Farm Day veteran, Adrianna Huskins was busy with early morning preparations & assisting Chris Ferri with pony rides. And speaking of pony rides, the program ran flawlessly thanks to the amazing organizational skills of Stacey Perry!! The steady flow of helmeted children, heading for their favorite mounts was a perfectly synchronized system! And it was here that one could find Balmy Acres’ own unicorn🌈🦄, Twinkle, handled by Hadley Balmes & Kalvin Zacchuber! Team Pixie was cheered on, handled, & assisted by Autumn Perry & Angela Balmes, and Team Diva had quite a strong ending with several kids (and teachers) in line to ride Chris Ferri’s mare, Diva. And Farmer Jim was seen everywhere driving the tractor & haywagon! Thanks Jimbo for all the support and behind the scenes preparation for this wonderful event! Couldn’t do this without you❤️
