Michigan City Piranha Swim Team The Michigan City Piranha Swim team is a competitive swim team sponsored by the Michigan City Parks and Recreation Department.

MCPS is a competitive age group swim team that provides opportunities for area youth to develop the skills necessary to successfully participate in swim lessons and competitive swimming while enjoying the social, physical, and mental rewards of the sport. We offer two different programs ranging from a Learn To Swim Program designed for anyone not afraid of the water who would like to learn to swim, through our competition team which is a feeder team for the Michigan City High School Swim Team. We have several levels in our competition team, starting with anyone who knows one basic stroke and can swim one length of the pool, through national level competitors. These swimmers will compete against swimmers of their own age in dual competitions, invitational meets and on the state level, if qualifying times are achieved.

🇺🇸 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb 25th Anniversary

This September 11 marks 25 years since the attacks that forever changed our nation.

We invite our community to join us for our annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb as we honor the 343 firefighters, fellow first responders, and all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and those lost after.

Together, we climb in remembrance of their courage, sacrifice, and service.

25 years later, we still remember. We still honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

It's that time of year! Fall/Winter Season starts a week from yesterday! I can't wait to see all our veteran and new swimmers! Registration is finally up and running. If you still have difficulties Michael should be at the pool to help you out. New swimmers, remember, we will also need a copy of your birth certificate!

Hello Piranha Families,

We will be having our end of season party this Saturday August 22 at 1:00pm. We are doing a movie theater rental at AMC Showplace 14 in Michigan City. The movie is still to be determined; I am waiting to hear back from the theater about our choices. We hope everyone can make it. If you have any questions, please let me know, also if you could please RSVP so I know how many to let the theater know will be there. You can email or send a message.

It is my understanding that the high school has power so barring unforeseen incidences or MCAS asking us to cancel for other safety issues, we will run all scheduled activities for today. That being said, I know there is a chance of more rain and storms all day. If there is lightning within a 10 mile radius we can not be in the water. Use your best judgement. Also, I know many of you are without power and coming to the pool is not a high priority at this point. We completely understand. Everyone, please do what you need to do and stay safe.

State Law prohibits us from being in the water when lightning is within 10 miles. Due to the current weather we will be cancelling tonight's swim lessons.
