❤️ Today I want to show you how to get on the Reformer the right way.

And I’ll take you through a few exercises, from beginner to advanced, that every Pilates student should learn.

If no one is teaching you these fundamentals, you’re probably not learning the true Pilates method.

Because Pilates doesn’t begin with the first exercise.

It begins with how you get onto the Reformer, how you organize your body, and how you build a strong foundation.

We always focus on control, coordination, and precision.

We don’t practice with momentum—we practice with concentration, intention, and mindful movement.

The details create control.

And control creates movement.

“Sit tall, lift your chest, and keep your spine neutral. Before you pull, bring your shoulder blades together. Now drive your elbows back and squeeze your rhomboids and mid traps.”

2️⃣ Kneeling High Cable Pulldown

“Brace your core and pull your elbows toward your hips. Visualize your lats shortening as they create width across your back.”

3️⃣ Straight-Arm Cable Pulldown

“Keep a slight bend in your elbows. Your hands are only hooks—your lats should control the entire movement.”

4️⃣ Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown

“Lead with your elbows, keep your chest lifted, and pull toward your ribs. Feel your outer lats working to create that V-shape.”

5️⃣ Cable Reverse Fly

“Open your arms with control and squeeze the back of your shoulders. Your rear delts and mid traps are what create balanced, sculpted shoulders.”

“In the yogic tradition, the story of Ganesha is a symbolic teaching. When Parvati created Ganesha to guard the entrance while she bathed, she was protecting a sacred inner space. Shiva cutting off Ganesha’s head and replacing it with the head of an elephant represents the transformation of the ego into wisdom. The human mind, attached to fear and identity, is replaced by the qualities of the elephant: patience, intelligence, humility, strength, and the ability to remove obstacles. It reminds us that spiritual growth often requires letting go of who we think we are so we can awaken to our higher nature.”
