July 25, 2025 - I am reopening on a limited basis for a small range bike repairs---brake adjustments, shifting adjustments (i.e., "clicking gears"), flat tire replacements, and potentially other projects as my time and skills permit.

If your bike needs this kind of work, please feel free to reach out to me by messaging this account. (Please do not come to my home or contact my personal account or phone number😀)

I am doing this in my side time, so please bear with me on any waiting times & delays in responding to messages.

I look forward to working with you (and on your bike).

Meet Dottie!

The first of The Hub & Spoke’s custom bike collection, Dottie is a 1987 Sears & Roebuck red hottie with a flirty makeover. Underneath her girlish good looks, though, she's all business: Sturmey-Archer S3C 3-speed (internal rear hub system) with coaster brake, lugged steel frame, sporty 26” tires, and a convenient and comfortable step-through design.

$550

We named her Dottie. You can keep that name--or we can change it, at no extra charge, to the name of your Valentine.

Come meet "Dottie" the polka-dotted bike in person at Papillion & Co. It will be love at first sight!

With working conditions in the garage getting chilly, the “shop” is migrating to the basement rec room for winter. We’ll be closed for most repairs during this time in order to get our inventory of snazzy, one-of-a-kind vintage bikes rehabbed and ready for sale. Several will be listed this week, so stay tuned! And feel free to DM us if you’re looking for a special holiday gift bike.

Presenting...The Hub and Spoke’s first bike for purchase!

1970 Raleigh Sports 3-Speed
Made in Nottingham, England

It’s pretty. It’s stylish. It’s hip. It’s also a great ride!

Raleigh Sports were built as transportation for British factory workers. They are durable, comfortable, and athletic riding machines reputedly built to last 100 years. And the three-speed gearing will help level the hills and extend your range—whether your riding to work, for a workout, or just for fun.

Take it for a test ride, and see for yourself!

For inquiries or a test ride, please DM us.

Type B fun: finally getting a 50-year-old Tomos’s seized bottom bracket cones loose and open despite the manufacturer’s having given me only one tiny groove with which to drive it back off the threads. (I used a tack hammer, a vice, a makeshift punch, and about five nights.) Everything inside looks great—especially when you consider how far, in time and space, it has travelled since it rolled off the assembly line in Yugoslavia in 1970.

Check out this tall and handsome new acquisition.

Due to some cool and unresolved mysteries concerning the history of the previously-mentioned Tomos (Yugoslavia, 1970), we are busy preparing a pretty blue Hercules 3-speed (England, 1972). Here you see: (1) the chain guards for both bikes; and (2) parts in various stages of being cleaned, lubricated, polished, and reassembled.
