They are proficient in Waltz, Foxtrot, East Coast Swing (Jive), West Coast Swing, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Tango, Leslie started square dancing in 1973 with the Denver Fiddlesteppers and learned to round dance in 1974. Doug learned to square and round dance in 1977 in Yuma, AZ. They met at the 1981 National Square Dance Convention in Seattle and were married in 1982. Doug started his first round dance clas
s in 1981 and Leslie joined him in 82. They teach phase II - IV and dance & cue ph 2-6. They have cued and taught at 21 National conventions, several state conventions and local festivals. They have taught ballroom dance on cruise ships. They spend their winters in Mesa, AZ in their 5th wheel teach beginning ballroom and Phase 3 & 4 figure clinics as well as sponsor a weekly phase 2-5 party dance. In the summer when they aren't traveling, they live in Bozeman, MT with their daughter and her family. Along with another cuer/teaching couple, they sponsor a yearly easy level round dance weekend called Mesa Magic. They are members of the International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association (ICBDA) and Roundalab (The International Association of Round Dance Leaders) and are BMI/ASCAP/SEASAC licensed. They have received their "Maestro Plus" award from Roundalab for teaching 40 years. Since 1987, they have choreographed more than 35 dances which have been taught in various venues around the country. Several of their dances have been selected as Rounds of the Month/Quarter in different areas as well as in Japan. Their choreography includes:
