Did you know this is Canyon Lake? 💦

When we get snow in the Superstition Mountains and on Four Peaks, the creeks come alive. Water starts flowing into the back of the lake in multiple places: First Water Creek, Tortilla Creek and La Barge Creek, near the Boulder Recreation Site. These photos are from the back of Boulder / La Barge.

Late winter and early spring is our favorite time to paddle Canyon Lake. When the water's flowing, it looks like you're in a different country 🌿

The last few years have been dry, but before that we had 4 very wet years in a row. We miss it! Fingers crossed for a wet season 🤞

Canyon Lake is expected back around February.

Canyon Lake is officially down 54 feet 😳

As promised, we went back to check it out. The drawdown is complete and SRP is doing maintenance on the dam. Docks sitting on dry dirt, cracked lakebed, the whole thing.

The lake's expected back around February, and we'll keep you posted.

Until then, keep paddling at Saguaro Lake and the other lakes around the Valley.
