My Why Is Changing
This season feels different for me. I’m in the process of redefining what running looks like in my life — and honestly, I’m excited. Excited for the mental growth and the mindset shifts happening, even though it hasn’t been easy.
For as long as I can remember, numbers have shaped the way I see myself — starting at 13, worrying about my weight and ending up hospitalized with an eating disorder. Then came the pressure to be the best student, to hit the next PR, to always push harder. Running became another place where numbers tried to define my worth.
But it’s not just about the numbers. And it never should have been.
Why do we let the scale, the finish time, or the opinions of others dictate how we feel about ourselves — or our passions?
Don’t get me wrong — I will always strive to be my best. Goals matter. Growth matters. But not at the expense of my family, my health, or the things that truly matter.
Running doesn’t run my life anymore.
And I will always run — God willing. I will always work hard, and I will always keep building up other athletes. But my why is no longer a number. It’s deeper than that now.
As a business owner…
Being in the fitness world and leading a gym, I see it daily — the pressure people put on themselves to prove something. To chase a number on a scale, a watch, or a race result. And I get it. I’ve been there.
But I want to be clear: You will never be reduced to a number in my world.
You are not your pace.
You are not your pant size.
You are not your past.
You are your effort.
You are your heart.
You are your comeback.
I’ve built my business — and my mission — around helping people feel seen, supported, and strong. And that means building a space where growth is celebrated, but worth is never tied to metrics.
We’re here to move with purpose, to chase goals because we love the bodies God gave us — not to punish them. We’re here to rise together, and redefine what success really means — in life, in faith, and in training.
So here’s to new whys.
To deeper reasons.
To freedom from the numbers —
And to finally owning the truth that we are enough because He says we are.
