Nassau County PD is warning residents: especially in Floral Park and New Hyde Park: about an uptick in "jewelry swap" scams.

Suspects approach victims outside their homes or on the street, offering jewelry as a gift or asking for directions, then swap your real jewelry for fakes in seconds.

Tips to Stay Safe (Prepare):
✅ Keep jewelry hidden when out in public.
✅ Be wary of strangers approaching for "help" or offering gifts.
✅ If approached, maintain distance and avoid physical contact.
✅ Report suspicious white SUVs or rental cars to 911 immediately.
