TRAFFIC ALERT::
On Saturday, November 20th, roughly 250 runners will converge on Meridian for the 8th annual Magnolia Marathon & Half. The 26.2 & 13.1 mile foot race will start & finish at Meridian City Hall. Areas around City Hall will be closed to traffic beginning Friday evening.
PLEASE BE COURTEOUS, USE CAUTION. PLAN EXTRA TIME when traveling along the following roads on Saturday.
Keep in mind THE COURSE IS OPEN FOR 8 HOURS! (Participants are allowed on the course until 3pm.)
Starting at 7am, participants will be running along portions of B & C streets, front street, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th streets and 20th Avenue, 22nd Avenue (both directions), 23rd (both directions), 24th, 26th Avenue (both directions), in the downtown area. The course also includes 23rd & 24th avenues from downtown to the Poplar Springs & Northwood areas, as well as portions of 34th Street, 38th, 41st, 43rd, and 46th streets, 10th avenue, Grandview Avenue, Parkway Blvd and Country Club Drive.
Keep in mind these runners & walkers will be running WITH traffic for most of the course. This means that they will be going the same direction you will be driving. POLICE & RACE VOLUNTEERS as well as es**rt cyclists will be along the course directing traffic and ensuring runner safety. Please take extra precautions on hilly, curvy areas! (Especially on PSD) Give these runners the right of way and allow them to cross intersections before you do. This is a race and they are running for time.
