I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about if I’m making calls again. The short answer is no. The long answer is that I’ve got a personal project to do on the house and then I need to deep clean and organize the shop. My hope is to get those things completed by the end of the year.

Once that is done you be then got a back log of calls to do from people that have been asking when I would start up again. And to be perfectly honest moving forward making calls is now a hobby for me and not a side hustle. Thanks for your continued patience and support while I’ve had to put things on hold for the last 18 months or so!

Been pulling a steady nonstop vacuum for 3 plus days and I’m still getting bubbles out. Maybe I can give the poor pump a break some time tomorrow!?!?

Delivered some special calls to some special people today. Hopefully I can clean up a few odds and ends this weekend and reload on some more projects!

Took a few teal green stabilized blanks and cast silver pearlex and alumilite over them tonight. Now I can’t wait to drill them out as blanks and turn them back down into some cool wood/acrylic hybrid calls. The greens, blacks, and silvers should all combine to make a sweet color scheme!

I’ve failed at this call with at least 5 different blanks. Then had to order more redheart wood from a supplier. That wood was too wet to turn and took three months to dry. Finally today I think I may have gotten it right. We will know for sure after some finish coats get done. None of these struggles and frustrations come close to comparing to what the little guys this call was made for has gone through though. All of the above has humbled and reminded me of the lessons of life. Fingers crossed this one takes!

This is going to make an interesting call blank. Double dyed/stabilized birds eye maple in teal and purple. Have a few others in a teal and blue combo that I was able to get cured today as well. Hope to get in the shop Sunday and get caught up on some projects!

Lathe is back up and running! Turned my first piece of stabilized wood this morning as well. This video shows the piece on the lathe without finish. Wood has been stabilized and dyed in a teal color and is spalted maple burl. If got more in the oven curing as we speak if you want one! I will Post a second video showing the same piece with a coat of finish on to show how the colors become more contrasted and darker.

Well since I’m waiting on lathe parts......might as well stabilize some more blanks!
