The Hamilton Police Division would like to remind the community that while E-Bikes are a fun and convenient way to travel, it’s important to be aware of the laws that govern their use.
The Police Department has seen a recent rise in E-Bike-related crashes throughout the township. In New Jersey, there are three classes of E-Bikes, each with its own regulations. Regardless of the class, all riders must obey traffic lights, signs, and signals, just as any motorist or cyclist would.
Additionally, helmets are required by law for riders under the age of 17 and are strongly recommended for all riders.
We urge parents to speak with their children about the safe and responsible use of E-Bikes, and to discuss the potential dangers of improper operation.
