Angelina Eakman Leads Mercer Varsity Lady M’s Past Laurel Varsity Spartans

Angelina Eakman was dominant in the circle, as the pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in Mercer Varsity Lady M’s's 6-3 victory over Laurel Varsity Spartans on Tuesday. Eakman gave up five hits and three runs over seven innings while walking three.
Laurel Varsity Spartans got on the board in the first inning after a passed ball scored one run.
Mercer Varsity Lady M’s jumped into the lead in the top of the second when Farren Baldwin doubled, scoring one run, Emma Stoepfel singled, scoring one run, and Eakman doubled, scoring two runs.
Laurel Varsity Spartans scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a home run to left field by Lexi Krol.
Riley Balcom took the loss for Laurel Varsity Spartans. The starter went five and one-third innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out nine and walking five.
Stoepfel and Eakman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Mercer Varsity Lady M’s while hitting back-to-back. Eakman led Mercer Varsity Lady M’s with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Kailyn Adams led Mercer Varsity Lady M’s with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Eakman stole two bases. Mercer Varsity Lady M’s ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game.
Krol led Laurel Varsity Spartans with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Laurel Varsity Spartans stole five bases in the game. Laurel Varsity Spartans turned one double play in the game.
