Officials are an important part of the success of Wisconsin's bike racing scene. We are always on the lookout for folks all across Wisconsin who enjoy being a part of the action, even if it's not in the middle of the peloton.

These are paid opportunities, mostly on weekends, but availability can be flexible, allowing you to work as many or as few race days as you like, and officiate in the disciplines you desire: road, track, mountain biking, cyclocross and more.

It doesn't take long to get certified, and if you're a member of a team registered with USA Cycling, you can get your first officiating license free.

The last Track 101 is here, but there are still plenty of race days to go. Learn the basics of riding track bikes on the historic banked velodrome this Sunday, August 2 from noon to 3PM.

Get familiar with basic track tactics and etiquette, then join us for some Tuesday night races for the final four race days of the season, where competition is fierce, but competitors are friendly. All ages (9-and-up) and skill levels are welcome!

Next on the road racing calendar: Badfish Creek State Time Trial from Mad City Velo in Stoughton, WI (Madison area). Time trial racing is a great discipline for folks new to the sport, because it doesn't involve the close-quarters group racing; it's just you against the clock. You can set and achieve personal goals out on the road, regardless your final placing.

With distances between 20 and 40K, the Badfish Creek TT uses Old Stone, Danks and Old Stage Roads. The first half is flat and then rolls over a series of moraines left by the last glacier. With only three right turns per lap and quiet Saturday traffic this might be one of the safest ad smoothest courses found in southern Wisconsin.

Here we go again! There are still weeks of racing ahead of us, and your next opportunity to get up to speed on track racing is this Sunday, July 12 from noon to 3PM.

Experience the thrills of riding a fixed gear on a historic banked track, get a feel for the bicycle and its braking system, and start to understand basic track tactics and etiquette. There are two more races on the WiRoad racing calendar, and both offer State Champs honors. Up next: Badfish Creek State Time Trial from Mad City Velo in Stoughton, WI (Madison area) on Saturday, July 25.

The forecast for Saturday is improving 🤞 but in the case of a wet track we may shuffle to Sunday (or offer a transfer to another date or a refund) but we'll get it figured out in any case.

Pre-reg for the Sussex Criterium closes tonight at midnight! Register now and save some cash. This race is brought you by Midwest Endurance Events and features a two corner loop for a fast and flowing race day.

They are also offering a free Practice Crit in the morning for first timers to jump in a race and try it out in a low pressure atmosphere.

The Muskego Park Criterium is back from Hampshire Cycle Club on Saturday, May 9 and features a 1.2 mi (2 km) lap with 100 ft (30 m) of climbing each go 'round.

Registration closes tonight at midnight. Parking is $7.
