Here again is the updated list. If anyone has anything to add on any of the players posts please feel free to do so. I am sure I missed something or got something wrong so correcting me won’t offend me!

Also tag the people and their families!

We are trying to keep the Mendota basketball legacy alive and we have the platform to share memories on here!

Lastly, I would like to thank Pat Beals for all his hard work compiling stats and information on all of this!

Cole Tillman
Cole has yet to graduate and is going into his junior year. As a freshmen he scored 512 and as a sophomore he scored 583. Both of those are the most of anyone at Mendota as a freshman and sophomore which also makes him the fastest in Mendota history to reach the 1000 point milestone. His total to date is 1095. Like his brother, on the game of his 1000th point he scored 32 points in the game.

Aden Tillman
Aden is our most recent graduate in 2026 being coach by Steve Wasmer. He scored 15 as a freshman, 412 as a sophomore, 337 as a junior, and 330 as a seniors for a total of 1099. Aden was a great athlete and student. He played football, basketball, tennis, and baseball. Fun fact about him is that in his game he score 1000th point he also scored 30 for the game!

Izaiah Nanez
Izaiah graduated in 2024 and was coached by Steve Hanson and Steve Wasmer. He scored 144 as a sophomore, 325 as a junior, and 560 as a senior. His total for his career is 1029. Izaiah was a 3 sport athlete excelling at soccer, basketball, and baseball. He helped the resurgence of both the soccer and basketball programs while at Mendota.

Joe Lashonse
Joe graduated in 2017 and played under Jan Thompson. He scored 154 as a freshman, 405 as a sophomore, 567 as a junior and 606 as a senior. His 1732 point ranks him second at Mendota. He was a standout athlete for the Trojans. On the court he was an excellent shooter who could also get to the hoop as he wished.

James Carroll
James was a 2015 grad who was coached by Jan Thompson. He scored 93 as a freshman, 393 as a sophomore, 620 as a junior, and 573 as a senior. His total of 1679 ranks him 4th all time at Mendota. Although the 3 point line was very popular in his playing days, many people know that the majority of his points came from close to the basket. He was also on the most recent team at Mendota to win a regional!

Brandon Smith
Brandon graduated in 2009 and was coached by Eric Lawson and Jan Thompson. He scored 72 as a sophomore, 426 as a junior, and 513 as a senior for a total of 1011. He was a force down low but could also step out and shoot. He went on to play college basketball.

Doug Safranek
Doug graduated in 2003 after being coached by Pat Beals and Brian Blumhorst. He had 184 as a sophomore, 297 as a junior, and 572 as a senior for a total of 1053. Saf played on a team of mostly guards and could score in a variety of ways.
