Superstars, MVP standouts from the 1st round of the boys lacrosse state tournament

Teams started their postseason runs on Tuesday, and there were some incredible individual efforts across the state in win-or-go-home showdowns.

Mendham over Millburn - Boys lacrosse- North Group 3 1st round

Justin Beimfohr and Jack Wadley each tallied four goals and two assists to lead fifth-seeded Mendham to a 13-7 win over seventh-seeded Millburn in the first round of the North Jersey Group 3 tournament, in Mendham.

Mendham (10-4) advances to Thursday’s quarterfinal round where it will face the winner of the opening round matchup between 13th-seeded Cranford and fourth-seeded Randolph.

Tristan Aitkenhead posted a hat trick and two assists in the win, while Gavin Tomoney added on a goal and an assist. Tim Loras also scored.

Who delivers in 2021 boys lacrosse state tourney? X-factors, MVP candidates to watch....

Some of these guys being singled out here today are prolific scorers, some are the guys who make sure they keep getting opportunities to score with their extraordinary faceoff work, and still others are the ones who are capable of making the day a long and frustrating one for the shooters and playmakers with their gritty defensive play or goaltending.

They are among the best players in New Jersey and they are eager to display their playing and leadership abilities on the big stage this coming week.

LETS GO MENDHAM!! 🥍🥍

Mendham (5-1) looks to rebound from a 7-5 loss to West Essex on Saturday after defeating its first five opponents by a cumulative score of 64-14. Justin Beimfohr, Tristian Aitkenhead and Tim LaRosa will be directing the offense against Caldwell (6-2), whose rugged defense is anchored by Chris Fermo, Tyler Nolan, Jack Kenyon and Jake Gruzas. One of Caldwell’s six victories came against West Essex, 13-6.
