On June 1, 1796, Tennessee became America’s 16th state. From 1960 to today, TPFFA has represented over 7,100 fire service professionals from 35 locals, advocating for legislation, supporting our members, and honoring Tennessee’s tradition of service. As we celebrate Tennessee’s rich 230 year history, we’re reminded that our firefighters embody the same volunteer spirit that gave our state its nickname. Here’s to Tennessee past, present, and future!

Johnny Garrett has consistently stood shoulder to shoulder with firefighters. From fighting to improve mental health care to support for expanding coverage for work-related cancer diagnoses, he has delivered for those who put their lives on the line in service to their communities. We trust Johnny Garrett to continue fighting for Tennessee’s firefighters in Washington.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day and their courage will never be forgotten.

The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association honors all of our fallen military heroes this Memorial Day. We also remember the families who carry their legacy forward and the generations who continue to answer the call to serve.

May we never forget the true meaning of this day.

This past week, the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association Executive Board, made up of Local Presidents from across Tennessee, came together to continue the work of strengthening our profession and representing firefighters and EMS professionals across this state.

The week was filled with productive conversations, shared ideas, and discussions about the issues impacting our members and the communities we serve every day.

The Executive Board also had the opportunity to hear from the candidates seeking to serve as the next IAFF 14th District Vice President. We appreciate each candidate taking the time to speak with our leadership from across Tennessee.

We also want to recognize and thank International Association of Fire Fighters District 14 Vice President Danny Todd for his 31 years of service in the DVP position as he prepares for retirement this year. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to firefighters across this region has left a lasting impact on the fire service.

No matter where we come from, it’s always a good reminder that Tennessee firefighters are strongest when we work together with one voice.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our Brothers and sisters of Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF and Brother Robert “BK” Kilduff’s family and friends.

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.

Rest easy BK.
