While turkey hunting with Chris, we spotted this beautiful black Hawaiian ram in a small herd. With only a shotgun in hand and gobblers sounding off across the pasture, there was no opportunity to make a play on him, but we definitely kept him in the back of our minds.

After punching his tag on a beautiful Rio Grande tom, Chris decided to break out the rifle and see if we could relocate the ram. Luck was on our side, and early the next morning we found the herd feeding in an open clearing with the sun rising behind us. A perfect stalk put us in position, and Chris made one great shot to seal the deal.

Congratulations my friend on another awesome trophy and a great hunt. We look forward to doing it again!

We wrapped up turkey season with a bang at Plaska Lodge.

Chris came to Texas looking to put the finishing touch on a great season and complete his Grand Slam with a Rio Grande longbeard. After several close encounters and working birds throughout day one, we got set up on these gobblers the second morning. We worked these stubborn birds for an hour as they made their way across an expansive field and when we got them to 35 yards, Chris pulled the trigger and rolled not one, but two beautiful longbeards with a single shot. That’s one heck of a way to finish a Grand Slam and cap off a great turkey season.

Congratulations my friend on an incredible accomplishment and a great hunt.

Another great longbeard from this past season.

We spotted this gobbler shaded up early in the afternoon on a windy day and were able to slip inside 200 yards to set up. A little calling and some patience brought him into range, and Robby made it count with a great shot.

Congratulations, my friend, on a beautiful bird.

Tom traveled to Texas looking to cross his last species off the list and finish his turkey slam.

After some awesome encounters in the morning, we located a group of birds shaded up from the afternoon sun. We worked ourselves into position, did a little light calling, and they read the script perfectly.

Congratulations my friend on a beautiful bird and an incredible accomplishment to finish the turkey slam. We are honored to have been part of the story.

Bruce and Tom made the trip to Texas to cross a Rio Grande off the list and take a step toward their Grand Slam.

Our first morning put us on several groups of gobblers, and after working them patiently for a couple of hours, things finally came together. After a long stretch of silence, two birds fired off just over a ridge at 100 yards. Not long after, their heads popped up, looking for a fight. Once they spotted the decoys, it was game on.

Both toms came in aggressive, beating up the jake decoy before Tom dropped the first bird, followed quickly by Bruce on the second.

A picture-perfect double.

Congratulations to Bruce and Tom on two beautiful Lone Star longbeards and one heck of a hunt!

We were fortunate to take another beautiful scimitar oryx last week with Ben.

Hunting these animals in the rough country they call home is always equal parts challenge and reward. After covering over nine miles on day one and coming close more than once, we started the second morning on a glassing k**b to relocate the herd. We found them down in the canyon bottoms and worked our way along the opposing rim, using the terrain and cover to stay hidden.

When we finally got into position, this old cow stepped out across the canyon. One well-placed shot brought her down quickly and ethically.

Congratulations, my friend. A hard-earned hunt and a trophy to match.
