The key to functional training is to develop usable strength and endurance. Function is, essentially purpose. Functional fitness should have a purpose. So, when we apply that term to what we do in the gym, we are talking about purposeful training that makes us better at the activity of our daily lives.

We are Memphis
Our members reflect the community that is our city. Our classes are made up of college students, artists, professors, executives, nurses, business owners, principals and dozens of other professions.

We are here to have fun, and get better. We thrive on encouraging each other and supporting each other’s endeavors—whether is is choreographing a new ballet, running a marathon, or leading a kayak trip on the Wolf River.

Our parent company is deeply connected to the athletic races and events in Memphis, and through we host a variety of erg ski, row, and bike events on our machines. Many of our members are avid runners and work with to prepare for races held every December.

Customized Coaching
Our coaches are effective at adapting and modifying workouts and movements to the individual member.

What that means in practice is that each coach ensures you can perform the movement correctly and consistently before adding weight or increasing intensity.

For members who are new to CrossFit this may mean modifying movements and/or workouts to help them build the capacity and resilience required to move in a physically intelligent way.

For those members who are more experienced at CrossFit, it means coaches provide enough challenge to drive progress without overwhelming them and pushing beyond their current threshold.

Insufficient challenge will stagnate progress, but too much will discourage at best and push the athlete past their limits at worst. This is why we adhere to the mechanics-consistency-intensity progression.
