Hi all! We've had a few new followers on this page in the last couple of weeks--welcome! So you all know, the University club is on semi-permanent hiatus since the pandemic, but Maclin sensei now runs a dojo in Arlington (Moerushin Aikido) that is a satellite of Mid South Aikido. Thornton sensei also runs a dojo in Atoka. So, if you are looking for aikido around Memphis we've got you covered!

Still on hiatus here, but Sensei Maclin will be teaching in Arlington, TN at Moerushin Aikido Dojo at Arlington Fitness starting in June (and still at Mid South Aikido ).

The UM Aikido Club is still in Covid mode--BUT: There is an Aikido workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 16., at Mid-South Aikido as part of the UofM Anthropology Week, sponsored by the Anthropology Department and the Anthropology Club. Free for students! RSVP at

Just found out, we may be able to regain access to our mat space on campus in the Spring. Our official club status has lapsed over the pandemic break--who is up for helping to rebuild?

Hi all! Fall 2021 update: as of now, we don't know our fall status. Club sports may be back, or not, and our former space in the old Rec Center is now closed. Stay tuned here for announcements as I learn more. For those wanting Aikido in the meantime, check out Mid South Aikido-Keishinkan Dojo, located in Cooper-Young, which is a short drive from campus.
