All About Kidz

All About Kidz AAK has 2 cages with several tee stations for tee work/soft toss. We have 2 machines (softball/baseball) & 2 basketball hoops. Indoor climate controlled.

All About Kidz (AAK) is a batting cage that is just that - All about kids. The batting cages was built by Neill McKee for kids in Scotland County and kids in the surrounding counties. It is a place to go and practice hitting and pitching. The facility has two cages, two pitching machines (baseball and softball), L-screens, multiple hitting stations with different types of tees, a softball pitching

mat/rubber and a mound for baseball pitching. There are two basketball rims. Baseballs, helmets, bats, basketball and other training aids are available to use. The building is climate controlled and available year round. AAK tries to allow a few hours a day for open gym time for kids to just come in and practice. Set hours are set aside for team practices and/or clinics daily. School teams and league teams are openly welcomed and special arraigngments will be made for them.

Our Scotland County Pharmacy uses Change Healthcare as our switch. The switch is what processes your insurance claim. We have been experiencing issues and our trying to do our best to fill prescriptions. Some are going through but others are not. We will get you your medication but please be patient. We can’t control this. There is no time line how long it will take to fix the problems from the cyber attack.

We are always trying to improve and provide best care possible. We recently have added an AED device approved for adults and children at Scotland County Pharmacy. We hope to never have to utilize it, but have it just in case. Please share this along with other locations in our area where AED devices are located. Every second counts in a cardiac arrest event.

Huge thank you to some awesome people. AAK received some much needed donations that will help keep the cage open and free for all to use. Matt Buford, Kevin Brown and the Memphis Tigers baseball team donated 10 dozen baseballs with buckets. Ken andJen McMinn and Riley and Edith Lucas donated a huge lot of softballs and Chuck and Debbie Kigar donated a new pitching rubber for the mound. These incredible donations from these wonderful people makes it possible for our community to continue to enjoy the cage. Dad and I want to publicly thank you all for your all you do.

After visiting with dad and discussing things it has been decided that we will be limiting All About Kidz to fast pitch softball, baseball and basketball. We also will limit AAK to just kids. What we have learned is the heavier bats of slow pitch are to hard on the equipment which was designed for fast pitch softball and baseball. Also we want to ask that you please take care of the place like it’s your own. We have this building available for our community and surrounding communities kids. If it’s not taken care of we will just close it down, which is not what we want. There has been to many times that equipment has been left out, thrown all about the cages for others to pick up. Thank you to Coach Sears, Derrick Hamilton, Coach Lucas, Coach Buford, Coach Small and all the other people who have helped take care of AAK. Anyone who uses it please remember rule #6 Leave the facility cleaner than when you walked in the door. (Pictures taken were after it was picked up partially. The pieces on the ground are parts of the inside of a ball).

Thanks to Christopher Chabert and the workers from City of Memphis, the electrical problem was found and fixed. All About Kidz is back up and running.

Until further notice All About Kidz will be closed to the public due to electrical issues. We are working on getting it fixed and will post when issue is corrected. Thank You.

OK time to get a little frustration off my chest. All About Kidz is a facility being offered to our community, free of charge. All equipment, gear, machines and balls and bats are available, FREE. All we ask is you treat the facility with respect and care and leave it better than how you found it. Recently that has become an issue. Both pitching machines are down due to improper care. I understand wear and tear and things will break. We expect that, but both of these break downs are due to improper use and bad care. The softball machine was left facing a batter with the control panel facing the batter. Someone hit a ball off the control box and broke it. All the person had to do was use common sense and turn the machine so the metal guard plate protected the machines control panel. Next our three wheeled baseball machine has had the pin broken twice which makes it inoperable and unsafe. To break this pin someone had to turn it with so much force to sheer a 1/4 metal pin. The other thing about this is it's not made to turn that way (it has turning wheels on the machine) and who ever did had to have used this wrong and improper. This has happened twice.

Next I want to address the care and use of the building. Please use equipment the correct way and leave it the way you find it. Don't move stuff around but if you do then place stuff back how you found it. I have found all the basketballs on top of the bathrooms along with several mule balls. I have watched video of kids bouncing balls off the glass window and throwing baseballs off the backboards. Turn the lights off and lock the door when you are done. I have found it many times unlocked with lights on. Kids have wrote on the bulletin board and scratched names into it.

Coaches watch your kids and make sure you are there as long as they are. You are responsible for them. Please pick up everything and put away when done with equipment. Put all tees back and nets returned and balls in buckets.

I know this is a long rant, but it is only because I care about this facility and the community keeping to get to use it. I understand equipment does break and wear out, which I will take care of happily when it breaks. That means its getting a lot of good use and our kids are learning and getting better. What I wont continue to do is pay for and repair stuff that is damaged and ruined by negligent improper care.

This batting cage is all of ours, and I am asking PLEASE help take care of it. Please pass this on and share it with people who you know use the cage. If improper care continues, I will shut it down and close it up.
