The season has come to a close for Strong Middle School Track & Field. We had an undefeated season in our league for both boys and girls. Our team was a wonderful combo of returning athletes and newcomers that worked together seamlessly to win the league. Letβs look back at the highlights from regionals yesterday!
On the girls side, Cayden Lundy brought home two medals. She scored second place in shot put with a throw of 33β 5.75β. Cayden also received 4th place in the 70m dash with a time of 9.97s. Both of these accomplishments put our girls team captain in 1st place for both events in Strong Middle School history. We are so very proud of her!
We also had a few other stand out performances that made SMS history. Shailin οΏ½Perez earned two spots on the all time list. She ran a time of 30.57 in the 200m dash, ranking her 4th in SMS history, and a time of 14.54s in the 100m dash, putting her in 7th place. Journei Houston comes in just behind Shailin with a time of 14.94s in the 100m dash, putting her in 8th place in SMS history. Nevaeh Brown made history in the 800m run with a time of 3:09.97, putting her in 3rd place on the all time list. Danika Centers made her mark in the long jump, putting her in 2nd place in SMS history with a jump of 12β 9.5β.
Last but not least is our girls 4X100m relay team of Cayden Lundy, Shailin Perez, Journei Houston and Kaelynne Allen.They now rank 1st in SMS history with a time of 56.05s, finishing in 5th place at regionals. We had two other spectacular athletes running the 4x100 throughout the season, Skylar Irvin and Nasiyah Fidel. Congratulations girls! We are so proud of all of you!
On the boys side, cross country two mile record holder (11:06) Xavier Rivera came in 5th place in the 800m dash, setting a new school record once again with a time of 2:20.06s. James Smith set the bar high, coming in 3rd place in both the 55m hurdles, 8.87s, and the 200m hurdles, 28.49s. This makes James the new 55mh record holder for SMS, and ranks him 3rd all time in the 200mh. Ennis βEJβ Hall set a new record in the 70m dash with a time of 8.76s, giving him a second place finish at regionals. Our captain also came in 6th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.43s, putting him in 2nd place in SMS history.
Other stand out performances on the boys side included Malek Scott making the SMS all time list in the 200m dash with a time of 27.36s, ranking him 6th. Kristian Smith trails just behind him with a time of 27.80s, ranking him 9th in all time history. Kristian also hit the all time list in the long jump, with a jump of 14β 19.5β, putting him in 3rd place. Mohamed βMJβ Jinah hit the SMS all time list in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.86s, ranking him 4th.
Our 4x400 relay team of James Smith, Ennis Hall, Xavier Rivera and Mohamed Jinah set a new SMS standard with a time of 4:06.21s, giving them the first place ranking on the history list. The team placed fourth at regionals. The 4x800 relay team of Xavier Rivera, Mohamed Jinah, Khalil Saa and Ahmed Alannisafe also set a new school record with a time of 10:31.97s, finishing in 8th place at regionals.
