We’re supposed to be seeing some cold weather by now but we saw a couple days ago near 80 degrees this past weekend. It still continues to play havoc with deer movement but we’re able to find a few to shoot at here and there. Heavy rut is still going on every now and then driving around the ranch we’ll see incredible numbers of deer. One of these days we’ll get back to normal around here. Until then we’ll keep after em the best way we know how. Good huntin

We’ve been blessed to host a group of amazing veterans for several years now. We’ve always tried to be a part of a lot of the veterans hunts over the last 20 plus years but this group has become such a regular part of our hunting season every year we consider them part of our family. Johnny Joey Jones of Fox News fame has been responsible for most of the organizing of this particular group. I met Joey quite a few years ago when we took a group of veterans hunting near Orlando FL on a place called D Dot Plantation organized and made possible by Mossy Oak camo company and Cuz Strickland. We struck up a friendship there that has lasted till this day. With Joeys platform and drive to help the disabled veterans we are blessed to spend time with this special group of guys. Thank y’all so much for your service and sacrifices. I hope the short time yall spend in our world helps with coping in your world, even if its in the smallest of ways. Love you guys❤️

As with so many other outfitters and hunters have been experiencing in all parts of the country we still have been having a tough time getting our really mature bucks to let their guards down like they have by now in years past. There’s always gonna be a few lucky ones that’ll connect with a trophy but hopefully The action will continue to pick up.

Despite an epic rainfall on the day everyone goes out to scout and set up(10.3 inches in 10 hours) and about half of the hunters being stuck in the mud or diverted from their original plans on where to go and set up, we ended up having a fairly eventful weekend with some nice bucks being taken. Cooler weather coming in and rut activity really kicking in it just keeps on getting better.

The weather is finally changing and the mood of the mature bucks are finally as well. It has been a trying year already ...

The weather is finally changing and the mood of the mature bucks are finally as well. It has been a trying year already and we were wondering if the big deer are ever gonna come out of the cover and it looks like it’s finally kicking off. It’s not exactly how it should be yet but we’re getting a lot closer to it. The next couple of weekends should really be a lot of fun here. And if you’re one of the lucky ones booked to come in, just get ready.

I believe our pre rut has begun enough to get a lot more of the mature bucks moving around now. Acorns are less desirable now and the natural vegetation is drying out making the corn a lot more effective now. Cold weather coming this week is really gonna help as well. Should be fun.

Another weekend of a bright moon, 90 degree temps and acorns all over the place and yet we still were able to have a pretty successful hunt and the game cameras and sightings are increasing every week. Can’t wait for ideal conditions to get here if we’re seeing what we are under a lot of adversity. Don’t let unfavorable hunting conditions dictate your season. Hunt when you can. Something is always happening somewhere.

Turkey hunters, we start our booking for our spring turkey hunts tomorrow, Oct 1st at 8:00 am. We have had a lot of people asking when so don’t hesitate. We do have limited spots available and will book up quick. Call Mark at 972-742-7116 to reserve your spot.
These hunts are $1,000 for 3 day hunt and the numbers of birds should be epic next spring.

Early season is always unpredictable. Usually it’ll be hot and dry from summertime with very little vegetation growing. This year we’re battling a lot of new vegetation because of recent rain falls, a lot of acorns falling, and tremendous cover that we usually don’t have this time of year. opening weekend here was tough. We did see a lot of animals out there. Just not mature bucks. however, the one hunter that stayed till the end the hunting gods were smiling on him. He took a 130 2/8 whitetail in the morning and a 35” axis in the evening on the last day of his hunt. You just never know when they move and yesterday afternoon everything seemed to be moving.

Saturday is the day we’ve been waiting for. I can’t believe it’s already here but it’s gonna be another incredible year ...

Saturday is the day we’ve been waiting for. I can’t believe it’s already here but it’s gonna be another incredible year I’m sure. There’s still a lot to eat out there and the protein has been available all year, both natural and from us. The antler growth potential has been maximized since spring. Should be amazing.
Don’t forget, if you haven’t secured lodging yet on your trip here, we still have a few dates open that we can put people in the sea container cabins on the ranch. If you’re interested give Mark a call and he’ll let ya know what we’ve got available. This doesn’t open up any more hunting spots just lodging.
