Long Island Elite Football is proud to welcome Adalberto Enrique Cervantes as a Sponsor of the program.

Some sponsorships come from businesses. This one came from a man who simply believes in what we’re doing.

Adalberto said it himself:

“I am proud to be able to sponsor the Long Island Elite Football program. I support the football culture here on Long Island. All young athletes should have the opportunity to play for an organization that not only develops them as athletes but also young men.”

That is almost a direct statement of the Long Island Elite mission.

Football is a vehicle. Not everyone understands that. He does.

Football eventually ends for everyone. That’s exactly why it’s so important to use these years to teach character, discipline and the value of relationships while preparing these boys for what comes next in life.

Adalberto’s personal investment into that mission deserves recognition. There was no business to promote and nothing being sold. Just a man willing to put his own money behind something he believes matters.

Youth sports can sometimes be a cesspool. Between the hoopla that means absolutely nothing and the crazy stories that have become far too common, he found a program trying to do things differently and chose to support it.

Long Island Elite is proud to welcome Doug Fitzsimons and ALL ABOUT GROUT as a Sponsor. Our sponsors mean more to us than a check; we want people around this program who understand faith, country, family, personal responsibility, discipline, character, hard work, accountability and merit.

Elite is intentionally different from recreational football. Playing time is not guaranteed because someone registered or showed up. Reps are earned through preparation, effort, commitment, attitude and performance, because that is how football works, how business works and how life works.

That is one of the reasons Doug’s story stood out. He started by doing the work himself and, together with his wife Ashley, grew All About Grout into a substantial Long Island business while staying directly involved in training, workmanship and quality control. Just as important, their philosophy is to recommend restoration when restoration is the right answer instead of automatically pushing a customer toward a much more expensive replacement simply because it would mean a bigger invoice.

That kind of integrity matters to us. Work hard, become good at your craft, tell people the truth, stand behind your name, take responsibility for your work and earn what you receive; those are the same principles Long Island Elite wants young men learning through football.

Parents will say they can’t afford this or that, then turn around and spend thousands of dollars traveling across the country for a one-week camp because somehow they’ve convinced themselves that week is going to transform their kid.

It makes me laugh.

A fancy camp is not a substitute for the other 51 weeks of the year.

Camps definitely have real value. They can provide exposure. They can put a player in front of coaches and evaluators. They can help a prospect get measured, compared and recognized in the recruiting process. And yes, a great coach might teach you something valuable while you’re there.

But stop pretending two days—or even seven days—is going to magically manufacture a football player.

IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY.

Players get better through accumulated work.

The boring s**t.

The Tuesday night nobody posts.

The hundredth repetition of something you already did ninety-nine times.

Getting home exhausted and doing it anyway.

Watching film when you’d rather play Xbox.

Working your hands. Working your feet. Catching balls. Getting stronger. Fixing technique. Asking coaches what you suck at and you and your parents not being afraid to hear the truth. It’s accepting critical feedback without getting defensive then obsessively attacking it.

And then doing all of it again tomorrow.

Excellence is mostly paying dues in silence.

Anybody can get excited about the flight, the hotel, the gear, the camp shirt and the Instagram post.

I want to know what you do when there’s nothing exciting about it anymore.

When you’re tired.

When nobody is praising you.

When nobody is filming.

When the work becomes monotonous and every mediocre instinct in your body is telling you that you’ve done enough.

That is where separation happens.

Go to camps. Get evaluated. Compete. Get exposure. Enjoy the experience.

But don’t confuse attending something with becoming something.

There is no registration fee you can pay to skip the dues.

There are no shortcuts.

2030 WR Luke Maurino MAKES IMMEDIATE VARSITY IMPACT AT St. Anthony’s HS Football

Recruited by Syracuse Football and UMass Football as an 8th grader, Long Island Elite Football 2030 WR Luke Maurino opened his high school career exactly where he left off.

First varsity game. First varsity start. First varsity touchdown. Two additional targets resulted in defensive pass interference penalties.

At 6’2”, 200 pounds with 10.5” hands, Maurino brings a rare combination of size, physicality and ball skills for a freshman. Already firmly on the Division I radar before ever playing a high school snap, he earned a starting role for St. Anthony’s and made an immediate impact in his debut.

Luke has developed in the Long Island Elite program since he was five years old and now begins the next stage of that development against varsity competition at one of the premier high school football programs in the Northeast.

Every year, Long Island Elite provides more than 50 need-based full scholarships and partial payment assistance to families who need help.

Single mothers. Single fathers. Parents who lost jobs. Families going through difficult times. We have even had players come to us while living in homeless shelters.

In nearly 15 years, not one kid has ever been told he couldn’t play Long Island Elite because his family couldn’t afford it. Not one.

We don’t announce their names. We don’t parade their circumstances around social media. Most people will never know who they are, because helping somebody doesn’t require humiliating them to prove that you helped.

It costs money to operate a high-level travel organization in any sport. Travel football is more expensive than your town-ball hand out cupcakes & orange slices program that is coached by dad volunteers and only plays locally. No judgements.

But fortunately travel football costs a fraction of similar programs in lacrosse, baseball, and soccer.

But a kid having less money than the kid standing next to him has never determined whether he gets to wear the Long Island Elite Football uniform.

People can have whatever opinion they want about travel sports. Most are ignorant of the real differences and benefits it doesn’t matter who they are or what level they played, if you knock travel ball in any sport you’re clueless. There are in-debatable differences.

If you are a football person you know the benefits of travel football. This is no longer the 1980’s where the most athletic kid at the park played quarterback. More and more kids are doing specialized position training at a young age and opting for travel programs.

People can call it expensive. People can say they wouldn’t spend the money. They are usually the same people saying that they would not travel out of state and do a lot of the extreme things we do in our program and that they do in the rest of the top youth football programs around the country.

We know exactly who we are.

And more importantly, so do the families we’ve quietly stood beside for nearly 15 years.
